I have been an observer of MM for some time and just decided to join. When I decided to end my military service 10 years ago while stationed in Germany I was offered jobs both back east, near where I was born, and here in Utah. After little thought I decided I wanted to move to Utah so I could hunt elk. In the past ten years I have been fairly successful in my hunts taking numerous cow and spike elk as well as one little 6x6. Always dreaming of the day I would draw a limited entry tag.

Last year I was lucky enough to guide my dad, from VT, to his first bull elk ever. He took a nice 5x5 on public land. It was very rewarding to finally be able to return his years of hard work putting me on whitetails when I was a kid. At the young age of 65 he managed a hunt most men half his age would have struggled with. Love you dad!

Anyway, to get to the point! I finally drew the Manti LE ML tag!!!! My hunt starts in a little more than a week and I'm already not sleeping at night!!! I have been seeing a TON of elk down there and have herd of a few good bulls being taken on some of the LE hunts. This is NOT helping my sleeping habits one bit. Now I'm hearing more and more stories about how the rut is getting a late start! Oh my this should be a great year!

Good luck everyone.

I know just where you are coming from. I have hunted spike and cow on the Manti for 12 years and now finaly have my Dutton muzzle elk tag and the chance of pulling the trigger on a big bull when he is in the crosshairs instead of letting a big stinky just walk by. I hope like you, that this late start to the rut works in our smoke polers favor. I am heading down next Friday morning. It has been A LONG TIME COMING! Good luck to ya!

Good Thing you have a good guide that also passes for a buddy. Don't worry we are going to have a great time filled with tons of bulls. 6 days there, 9 days gone and back down for your hunt. Get some sleep your going to need it.
