LAST EDITED ON Jul-18-06 AT 07:10PM (MST)[p]Well, I drew area 10 ML this year for NV. I will only have 3 days to hunt due to training I will be at. (well 3 Saturdays, plus early Sunday morning anyway). I am considering hunting unit 108. I have hunted 101, 102, 103, and taken deer (early and late rifle season), but this will be my first try at 108, and a hunt this early. Low density deer during the early season, but the deer winter there for the most part. I am choosing this unit mostly because I live in Eureka, and there is a decent road system in there. I used to live in Elko, and thats when I hunted in 101, 102, and 103.

I was out yesterday afternoon/evening, and this morning. Found one doe on a spring yesterday evening, and then two does and 2 or 3 fawns this morning on another water source. There are also some other springs which I could see on the map, but did not hike into. Planning at least one more scouting trip in there in August, and then over Labor Day weekend before the season opens on the 9th.

Looking for some other tips to find bucks. The area is lake bed, sage, grass, etc on the bottoms, then PJ's, then opens up to sage, grass, mountain mahogany, different brush and berries (mostly around the springs) on top. Not much mahogany.

Will the bucks be in bachelor groups during this time still, or will they start to disperce, and go on their own ways. I know the key will be water, and there are isolated springs, but not many. Just wondering how their habits will be for bedding, feeding, etc.

Thanks for the help.

The Early" muz hunt is a GOOD hunt in Nv,for an "OPPS" at a Booner.Hunt HIGH country,as Bucks have Summered there to cure antlers and fattin up.Still in bachelor groups for protection, far away from Does and Fawns. Will bed down EARLY in a.m.and UP and feeding as p.m. sun sets. Not alot of time to hunt these Big Bucks, but a chance usually will happen --- Good Luck
