Now that it's over, lets here how your Archery hunt on the Monroe went. I've heard it was a little slow, with not much action. But the last few days should have been better.

Let's hear all about it.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-19-10 AT 01:04PM (MST)[p]See my post below for more info, but I'd still say it was a good hunt. We got into a lot of bulls and saw plenty more, from one end of the unit to the next. Like any other hunt, you just have to be willing to get off the roads and work at it. Only once did I see a bull from the road and it was just a little raggy. It was on and off for us. One day the bulls were going crazy and the next day they were rather quiet. But when they turned on, they were really on! I left on Monday and I'd only imagine it got better through the end of the week.

Are you planning on posting photos and a story? I would love to hear the details.

We hunted hard for 17 days and didn't go a day without seeing a 6 point, some days were better than others. In the end the elk won, the wife passed a few and missed two but we had fun and hope someone draws the tag again someday so we can chase them around some more. It definatly was on last week, we were into elk morning and night. By Thurday afternoon the rifle boys were out in full force but we changed up the tactics a little and were still into elk. I know of two others who tagged out, one guy with a 300" or so 6x6 and the other gal with the tag shot a 5x5. Hope you have a great hunt (you should!) and am looking forward to seeing the outcome, wish I was going down with you, I am still in denial that it is all over!

?The bugle of the bull elk echo?s through the pines, the north wind moans her lonesome lullaby, he hungers for the freedom of an eagle as she flies?somewhere beyond the great divide?

Lefty, you're more than welcome to come up and help me on my hunt. I would love for you to show me all the areas where the biggest bulls are hanging out. PM me, and I'll give you coords where my camp will be.

If I could get the time off I would be there in a second! PM sent!
