Just got drawn for deer in wyoming region W (general). My buddy and I have never been there, and are Non-Resident Do it Yourselfers. Mostly trying to hunt the area with the fewest other hunters around, and might have a few nice bucks. Not looking for trophys, just 'representative' deer. Have been told by Wyo G&F and coworker that area 82 is really crowded, and that area 100 would be best for what we have in mind. Would kindly appreciate any information from folks who have been there! Much Thanks!

I'm not sure why they said 100 is not crowded. We camped by a main road there a few years ago and the ATV's started by about 2.5 hours before daylight. To me, it was CRAZY. Since it's nearly all BLM land, they seem to drive those things everywhere. Area 82 gets lots of pressure, but at least it is forest service and there are vehicle restrictions. So you can walk and get away from 90% of the hunters.

And the gas development in area 100 is also an issue. There are roads all over for that as well.

All this said, those are good areas and they do hold a few solid bucks. You'll likely see few bucks, so set your standard early and shoot the first buck you see that meets the standard. There are not that many deer, and I hope the change in regions helps their population.

Good hunting.

ICMDEER;

Thanks very much for the valuable information. I heard some about the gas exploration going on too, that has me guessing about added hunting pressure as well. If things get too crowded over there, we may head over to area 82 and use lots of boot leather to get away from all the roads. And I'll take your advice about setting an early standard to heart.

Much appreciated!
