Selway vs Big Creek area

Hi everyone, I'm new to the site and posting. I love hunting and sharing hunting with others. Two of my friends have decided to take hunters ed and want to go deer hunting this fall.
I thought the best thing to do for deer hunting, would be to take them up a couple of weekends. Now my question would be:
Which area would be more suitable for seeing deer between the Selway Units or Big Creek Units? I have hunted the Big Creek area quite a few years ago, but didn't see to many deer. I have always wanted to drive the Magruder Rd and hunt.
Any info about which area would allow some great first time hunters a chance to shoot would be appreciated. Thanks for any input.

Of the two, I would go with the Selway area. Both areas are pretty heavily wooded but from my experience up there, there seemed to be more deer (by far) in the selway area. More whitetails in the Selway than up at Big Creek, but more deer in general too. Not only that but you can harvest a doe up there if they want to at least end up with some meat. I will say it is so heavily wooded that it is not the easiest hunt and I can think of other areas that would be better, but the fact that it is open for ANY deer helps, especially for somebody that is out on their first few hunts.

Another hunt you may want to look at is the whitetail tag and hunting in unit 15. Just a suggestion but there are more deer around that area in my opinion than either of the other two, plus it is ANY deer again.

We hunted the Selway last year for a week and had a great time.

Hunt up Test Creek for a couple of miles. Good elk numbers and both mule deer and whitetails.

I've been thinking about hunting unit 19 or 20 this year. Any ideas or advice? What are your opinions on these units? I have horses.

Thanks for the input everyone. I will definitely look into those areas and talk to my friends. Has anyone ever hunted NE of Daggar Falls? Off topic but, I just got back from my gold claim this weekend and saw 15 deer in one evening. I only confirmed on one buck, a nice 2-pt. That was in northern 39.
