Here's a little video I finally put together of all the bulls I filmed on my archery hunt on the San Juan Elk Ridge unit. It's a little rough, but you'll get the idea of the type of hunt I had. It's in full HD if you have a good internet connection.

Cheers,
Pete

Bulls of the San Juan

Thanks Pete. That was great footage. I really enjoyed seeing those bulls. I enjoyed the music, too. I've never been on the San Juan, but this video has put it on my list of places to visit.

Looks like you had a lot of fun down there...great bulls! Great job on the video as well, that was some pretty good filming on the fighting bulls through the spotter...hard to keep them in the picture when they are moving around like that! Thanks for taking us along!

?The bugle of the bull elk echo?s through the pines, the north wind moans her lonesome lullaby, he hungers for the freedom of an eagle as she flies?somewhere beyond the great divide?

I just got back from my Elk hunt last week and felt like I was right back up there with em....... Thanks for sharing Pete...... BTW I saw a Bull almost identical to the one at the 8:00 mark right after the wallowing Bull sequence.... What do you guys figure he would score?........ Terry

Pete, That was unreal footage and I felt that I was back down there. Where was that first bull filmed? Ridge or Blues?

stixnblades, the first bull was one I called the Basket Bull and one I really wanted to get. I filmed him all summer over on Blue Creek Mesa. I was 30 yards from him and blew him out opening day and never saw him again. My specialty it seems :)

Cheers,
Pete

Thanks for the memories Pete im ready for another trip down in years to come just to video bulls. I will never forget watchin those 2 bulls fight for 10 mins..

I'll bet he feels it every night!:D

And Hell yes I love my Truck!

Still no answers Pete?

Was it worth the wait?
You gonna ignore me next time you see me in Monticello?:D

vectrix34, here's hoping you or one of the boys draws again next year. I'd consider it a privalege to come spot or call for you.

I'll never forget that fight either! Once in a lifetime to have it happen all out in the open where we could see and film it. One of the highlights of my season down there for sure.

BBQ some elk tenderloin next weekend maybe?

Cheers,
Pete

There are no big bucks in Utah! LOL

I followed along in your hunt challenge and I think I have read it 2 or 3 times now. 1st let me congratulate you on a GREAT bull! You should be very proud of him. 2nd id like to mention that you have done a fantastic job writing and keeping me right there with you as if I was there. And 3rd your photos and documentation is top notch! I really enjoyed your story and your hunt. I do not have that kind of talent but I sure do enjoy people like you that can put something like that together. My hats off to you and thank you for taking us along.

Great job I liked it. What a heart throb it must have been. I remember a few years back watching a couple bulls go at it at close range like 40 yards. Your video took me back to that day. I am hoping that unit will have that kind of bulls in a couple years after the hunting of spikes takes its toll! Great Job. Rutnbuck

Thanks everyone! One of the most incredible thing's I've ever been able to be apart of.

Here's the direct link to the story and pics of my hunt. http://www.monstermuleys.info/dcforum/DCForumID50/5.html

It's way long winded, but I wanted to write it all down now before I start to tell too many lies when my "oldmanitis" really kicks in. Now you guys can hold me accountable in the years to come when I spraying my bs :)

Cheers,
Pete

That was very fine, Love that area.
Glad you got a nice bull. Hope the deer herds makes it back.

Hey Pete that was on heck of a wicked sweet video. That was killer footage were you shooting through a tines up scope cam adapter and what kind of spotter and tripod were you using.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-24-10 AT 01:39PM (MST)[p]wstrntines, it is a tines up Scope)cam adaptor of sorts. I have a Nikon EDIII 60mm scope, a Slik 613 carbon fiber tripod and a small Manfroto fluid head. You would need something the size and weight of fort knox to keep that type of scope)cam footage from bouncing around when you try to follow critters. I was surprised it came out as good as it did.

I think the larger eye pieces on the Leica, Swaro, and Vortex scopes works alot better than the small diameter eye piece on my Nikon. I have to be about a 1/2 mile away minimum to even get a whole critter in the frame.

I think their new Point and Shoot Scope)cam adaptor combo is the ticket and well worth a look if you have a decent scope.

Cheers,
Pete
