Good looking bucks. When do they start losing their velvet? Was this footage taken in Utah? Our deer here in Cali. have already stripped their velvet (most of them). Were those bucks coming into feed in the alfalfa or something? Thanks for the video.

Only the coastal blacktails have rubbed out that I've seen, which is normal. However, I photographed some inland blacktails and also some mule deer last weekend and all of them were in full velvet with some more growing to do. Our (CA) mule deer will generally begin to rub out around September 1st.

Sorry to mis-inform anyone. The deer in my area (coastal blacktail) on the central Coast, have stripped already. At least the bucks I've been seeing. Where you located BOHNTR? Im in Santa Maria- bout an hour North of Santa Barbara.
