I just got the new book about Public Land Mulies by David Long. I have read about half of the book already and this guy seems like the REAL DEAL. This guy is a "REAL" expert on high country DIY hunts. Many times this guy packs in by himself for mutiple days and he has killed some VERY impressive bucks on public land. I am not much of a reader and I have gotten into this book. It is 300 pages or so and I have already read half of it in two days. The companion DVD is OK but he mostly just talks about equipment for the back country. Anyways I have enjoyed it so far and I would love to hear what others think. In my opinion this guy seems to be the kind of hunter we all want to be, yet in the opening pages he says he would not consider himself a mule deer expert. Well if he isn't, WHO IS?

Good to hear. I ordered mine over a week ago and hope it shows up soon. Gotta have something to read in the lope blind starting Tuesday.

Where are you hunting antelope already? I have a tag in WY and it starts Sept 1st. I can't wait! I have Utah deer this weekend. Colorado for 4 days starting next weekend. Then 3 days in WY for antelope the weekend after that. IT'S FINALLY HERE!

I got mine a week ago but have not read it yet, Im saving it for the Antelope blind next week. Looks to be a great book.

Read through mine, definately has some nuggets in there that make it worth the price. Some of the book I didn't find all that useful but others might, all in all well worth the money and will probably cause the demise of many more big bucks in future years, as well as changing the high country hunting game once again.

Finished mine up this last week, was a great read and very informational, David Long seems like a class act. With that said this is the only other trophy mule deer book that can be in the same class as Kirt Darner's. And thats the bottom line!

LAST EDITED ON Aug-15-06 AT 11:47AM (MST)[p]Sure wish mine would show up some day. I ordered it from Eastmans'8/6, which was a Sunday. I emailed them two days ago about the status. Shipped on the 11th (5 days to put it in the mail???). "should be there in two weeks". Wow, I could walk there and pick it up in that amount of time. Looking forward to the read.

Certainly a good read but the bonus video doesn't amount to much except for the one kill shot and dust cloud!!! It still amazes me when a buck doesn't know he's dead on contact...

All jokes aside, I learned some very worthwhile things from the book/video...my E-stock fits like a glove now...I was just doing things bass-ackwards.

I'm about half done with the book and am not reading it cover to cover more so chapter and then another chapter of interest.

The little DVD was quit interesting and fine to watch.

My wife ordered the book for my birthday in June. Finally arrived two weeks ago and I was able to read it alot while on flights and sitting in the airports a week or so ago. I have really liked the information and look forward to trying out some of the techniques this upcoming hunting season.

This guy is hard core that is for certain. I hope that someday I have the guts to hunt like them. There have been several areas I have wanted to hunt for a few years and haven't worked up the courage to do it.

Enjoy the book!
