Hey all,

Drew my first Colorado tag. Not a trophy area but potential none the less. Have hunted Utah, Idaho, and wyoming every year. Any help for areas and access in the Craig, CO area? I have atv and horses..rather horse pack in...less peeps. This is a 3rd season tag. Would love some Ideas or information if anyone is willing to share. I have hunted all over Utah and southeast Idaho and Reg G wyoming. Love to swap info.

I was in Steamboat area up Buffalo pass two weeks ago and saw tons of smaller bucks and bulls and 3 bears..might be good for a bear tag...

Thanks for any and all help..

Hunt hard and be safe!

I hunted 2nd season last year near Black Mountian and the Bears Ears. This area gets a lot of pressure! Even three to four miles in there are a lot of people. More people using horses in this area than you would believe. If I were you I would head for the wilderness area on the east side and pack in that way. Going north out of Steamboat Springs you can follow the Elk River for access to the wilderness area. This looked to be less pressured and better hunting in general. Even without packing in I would hunt that area first. Good Luck.

Thanks so much for the Info....tired of the crowds..seems like unless you have thousands of dollars for private guided, you are stuck with the masses....I will get some more maps of that area. THanks again and good luck!

I had that tag last year. If I had that tag this year and had a choice of staying home or hunting I would stay home. It must make a lot of money for Colorado Wildlife because they sell a lot of tags.

untimely,

I have hunted there a couple of times for Elk. PM me if you like & we can talk.
