The season is almost here. Next weekend I'll be hitting the high country with my brother trying to find him a mountain goat. Then the following weekend it is the opener for deer and my grizz draw. Scouted out a whopper of a grizz. Glassed him up feeding on huckleberrys in the alpine. I have my fingers crossed that he stays there and doesn't wander. Will be my son's first year hunting. I can't wait to take him out and try to get him on a deer or maybe even a fall black bear. Should be a blast.
Best of luck to all of you and hope to see a lot of success pics posted up here in the coming weeks. Here are some of my pics to get ya in the mood.

Great pics. Thanks for posting them. Definitely getting my blood pumping.

Getting out with your son for his first time is what it's all about. I've already done it with my oldest for the past few years, and I've got 2 younger ones itching to go.

Best of luck to everyone in their hunts this year.

Ya know, if you guys would shoot some does instead of those lil bucks just to keep your ego inflated, you may be able to grow some trophy class bucks ;-)

Hey BCBOY- how old does a kid have to be up there to hunt big game? I know it varies from state to state. Its 12 years old here in California. How does it work up the in Canada?

Kids can start hunting at 10 here in BC. They have 2 options, they can take the CORE Hunter Training so they can get their own Hunter Number and thus their own licence and tags, or they can hunt with a Jr. Hunting Licence and hunt using their guardian's tags. They can hunt using the Jr. Hunting Licence until they are 14, at which time they need to take the CORE to keep on hunting.

what a pile of memories, good going, good luck this fall (everyonne) and stay safe - oh and bring a phone - LOL - Just kidding!

"Roadless areas, in general, represent some of the best fish and wildlife habitat on public lands. The bad news is that there is nothing positive about a road where fish and wildlife habitat are concerned -- absolutely nothing." (B&C Professor, Jack Ward Thomas, Fair Chase, Fall 2005, p.10).

Rack,
Don't know much about speedgoats but that one sure looks nice to me. Congrats.

Will,
Still a bunch of us hard-core BCer's on MM. You're welcome to pull up a seat around this fire anytime. I see that the other mod from HS was hammering a young hunter on the other BC site. Was a crying shame. Made me ill to my stomach to see him go on like he did. Accusing the kid of shooting a whitey when it was obvious in the pics it was a muley. I think that guy has lost his marbles for sure. He definatley killed HS. That site is dying because of his own undoing.

BOHNTR,
Heading out in the morning with my son for a week. We had some shooting problems this summer, think the ol' Model 99 is still to big for him. We've decided he'll hunt grouse and rabbits this year and wait another year before he'll hunt deer. He's pumped. He's bouncing around the house right now like a kid in a candy store. Should be a fun hunt. I've got a muley tag, a whitetail tag, a moose tag, an elk tag, a black bear tag and a grizz tag. Hoping something will hit the dirt this week. Probably won't hold out for a big buck, thinkin if it has bone it's going down. Will have another muley tag for the late season when I can focus on the Big Boys. That is when Matt and the rest of the crew will be straping on the backpacks to help me pack out ol' Mass'N'Trash. :) :)
