LAST EDITED ON Sep-15-06 AT 08:45AM (MST)[p]Definately bigger than that. I've got a book that shows one at 43". 47" comes to mind, but I think it might even be bigger than that.

Just found this. Doesn't answer the question, but....

"This is one of the widest mule deer in the world. This buck was taken by Rolly Anderson in 1969 in Wyoming. When first killed, the buck was over 50 inches wide."

60"

"This picture is a buck taken in 1928 or 1929 in Sonora Mexico. The young lady's grandfather had killed it. If I remember right Emmett Burrougs Was down in Mexico on vacation and seen these horns on a fence post in her yard. He handeled them personally and they were not fake. They had no reason to alter them. She was clueless as what they really meant. I think he offered her a good sum of money for them and she said no that it meant alot to her to keep them. Emmett Asked if he could take a picture of them and she obliged."

The "Maestas" Buck is 49"
It's the one with the cheaters on the far left.

Those are all outside spread measurements. The widest inside spread is 45 6/8" and it was poached in Texas about 4 years ago. I have actually seen offspring of that deer that were right at 40" wide. Not only was it wide but a couple of the H measurements are over 6".

Thank you all so much i really appreciate it. I didn't know they grew em that big.

Thanks again and good luck to all of you this season..

back in the 80's i was at a gas station in Cedar City, Utah and saw a picture of Kirt Darner with a buck that measured 50" wide outside spread. The antlers almost came straight out and looked flat. The buck did not score well, but man was it wide.

Dallan C, Color photographs didn't exist in the 20's judging from the style of glasses she is wearing I would say 70's.And she is holding a pair of sheds outside of a regular rack. she is kinda cute though in a Hillary Rodham Clinton sort of way LOL.

Reread the post. The buck, not the picture, was taken in '28 or '29. As far as a second set of antlers, your magnifying glass must be better than mine.

What he said.

This picture was posted by "thirtyincher" several years back here on MM. Its a picture of the original picture. I edited it after it was posted and cleaned it up alot. It may be fake or real, either way its fun to look at.

HuntSonora,

Do you have a picture of that 45" muledeer killed in Texas? Or atleast know which county he was killed in?

We are talking about the middle Buck in the picture that was posted by a young man he said his grandpa killed. He said it was 58” from cheater to cheater, not a little 40” buck with milk on its chin

Years ago I photographed a 42" wide mule deer hanging up in a machine shop here in Eureka. The machine shop burned down and I lost the photo somehow. You'll have to trust me on that. It came out of SW Idaho.
