I'll be hunting region D too but I'm not sure where muddy mountain is. I scouted this summer and saw a few nice bucks. They had another dry year in that region keep that in mind.

Muddy Mountain used to be a good area back a few years ago. there is a ocasional buck that goes over 170 but they are few and far between. most of the the four you will see a between 130 and 150 which is a decent deer for a general area. but be prepared to be swamped come rifle season. becouse just about everybody who has an elk tag has four buddys with deer tags roaming the mountain. and becarful of whos property you pass on due to their is a texan who bought a ranch that goes up their and hes not very nice. he tried to run me and my dad off state land down lower on the mountain with a gun before. this areas deer population used to be awsome but now since cronic wasting desiese has set in the g&f put out 300 redued price doe fawn tags that you caould have bought but they are sold out now to reduce the population of the deer to try and get rid of chronic wasting desies. in my opion this area should become an archery only area then you would probley here of 2 or 3 200 inch deer killed every year becouse the genetics are their but the deer arnt allowed to live long enough to grow that big. my advise to you would be shoot the first buck you see or eat your tag becouse most of the good sized bucks will be on private land by the 2nd or third day.
