Here is my September 2006 Utah archery deer. It's the first deer that I have killed and it was worth the last five years of passing on the pisscutters.

Me and my brother-in-law hiked about 3 to 4 miles and didn't see any deer. It was just about 1:00 in the afternoon when we heard an elk bugle. So we decided to go and take a look at the elk. We spotted the elk and as we were glassing him, I spotted some velvet antlers sticking out of the bushes about 20 yards in front of the elk.

As I glassed the deer, I saw that he was a decent 4 point. He was about 170 yards away and was grazing toward us. We waited until he got about 130 yards away and started my stalk. When I got to 50 yards from him, I took the shot. I hit him and saw my fletchings in hs ribs as he ran away. As he took off through the trees seven other bucks got up from their beds, three of these other bucks were nice four points. We had no idea they were with my buck because of the thick brush they were bedded in. He piled up about 100 yards from where I shot him.

It was about the most exciting moment in my life to date. I am very happy with it.

Congratulations! That's a great looking buck. I love the early season capes when they just lost their summer coat. The capes are nice and thin and show a lot of detail when mounted on a good form.

Congrats on a great buck and thanks for the story to go along with the pics!

Pretty country, nice buck. God the dude on the left looks exactly like my good bud Chris...

I'm sure your buddies are trying to find out where those other bucks are so they can get a chance at a nice one too, Very nice buck, he going to look good on the wall.

Well thanks guys. yeah I wont be telling anyone about this little honey hole. We saw some good deer and elk in there, hopefully it will keep producing in the years to come.

Well I have scored it, and my taxidermist scored it, we were within a have inch of each other. What do you guys think my buck scores?

Great story to go with a great buck. Funny how those "extra" bucks appear when all heck breaks loose huh.
