I have a permit for region W in Wyoming. I killed a 190 class buck 6 years ago out there. Only been out scouting once this year and did see the buck I was hoping for any Ideas on any areas would sure help. thanks

Come on I ment to say I didn't find a buck I was looking for. How about the battle mountain area? has anyone hunted there in the last couple of years and did any good? This area used to be in Region D by the way. Come on help a brotha out.

Was just up there this past weekend. No snow at all west of the divide. Although I was up there looking for elk, I did run across some people who were up the scouting for deer. They said they had seen a few but that was it. Good luck.

Nothing like guttin' a 6x6 elk at 7:30 in the morning.

I am replying to this messaged kind of late. You probably are already back from your hunt. Anyway, I have hunted that area for the last 4 years, not including this year. I couldn't go this year due to scheduling conflicts. Region W is awesome. I have killed some great bucks. Battle Mountian is ok, but Horse Mountain is where the bad boys are. I'm now looking for some info on Region D, areas 70, 161, and 66. Know anything.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-20-06 AT 03:47PM (MST)[p] area 66 the deer are in bad shape on top of muddy mountan.
i'd try trappers route or deer creek.
i bowhunted elk on top of muddy and never saw a good buck. i hunted every weekend of bowseason and opening 3 days of rifle.
i decided i'd go elsewhere. the deer that are there need to stay to keep the herd going.
out of 15 days hunting i saw one two point and about 20 does
if you come off the mountan there are deer its up top that has been over shot and cwd i have taken two deer in previous years with cwd.
the elk are doing good but the deer are hurting.
