First Muzzy Buck!!!

This is the first year I have hunted with a muzzleloader and it is a blast. I joined the dedicated hunter program so I could hunt longer each year. I had told myself that I would not shoot anything that was not a trophy. Well... when I saw this buck, I thought to myself that he is a trophy muzzy buck in northern Utah.(buck fever justification) Anyway the rest is history.

I hunted for the first three days of the season and saw more deer than I have ever seen. I had a blast!! I was able to hunt with my dad each day so that just added to the fun. I shot my 3 point buck on Friday morning at 7:30 a.m. My dad shot a nice buck the next morning in the same general area. We had a great season.

All the talk about the heards being small in Northern Utah makes me laugh. I saw so many freakin deer this year!! It really adds to the hunt when you are constantly seeing deer.

Congrats on your hunt. Glad to hear you had a good time, I know exacly what you mean about hunting with your dad , Ilove that more than anything. Can't wait to see the pics . My muzzy mule deer hunt here in NM starts the 22 and its in an area with real good numbers of deer , so I'm really getting excited...Again congrats to you and your dad...Larry

Don't let out the secret of all those deer in N. Utah you will have all those hunters from Southern hunters putting in for your best area. LOL

Now you're hooked. I have only shot 2 bucks with my muzzleloader. They are my biggest 2 deer. It is now my favorite hunt. How are you coming on those pictures?

You are right oakbrush. I loved this hunt!! I have killed 4 bucks in past years during the archery hunt and this was one of my favorite hunts ever. It may have been that I love hunting with my dad. I have not been able to hunt with him for a few years since he has been in Afghanistan keeping us all free.

I will see if I can get one of his pictures on here sometime also. He got a realy cool 2x3 with a cool cheater.

Yeah, I love my gun!! I had a hard time learning how to shoot with open sights. I would go shooting every night and got better as the summer went by. I did learn to take some water and patches with me. After 4-5 shots the barrel gets realy dirty and needs to be cleaned.
