Anyone have any advice for Colorado's unit 75/751 third season? I am not expecting to shoot a hawg, but would like to bring home a mature buck. I hunted there last year and shot a very small four-pt on the last day. I saw a handfull of bucks in the 150-160" range, and I would be happy shooting something like that this year. My problem is finding access to public land. It seems that all the canyon bottoms are private allowing little access to public land. I would appreciate any leads or advice. Thanks

Where are you from?
There are is a vast area of hunting in those two units with much access as well. Grab a couple of maps and you will find that you can get in everywhere as long as you are willing to hunt a little higher elevations. The valleys are almost all private but the nice bucks will still be high that time of year.

Thanks for the info. I am from SW New Mexico, but currently living in SE Arizona (big bull elk country). I hunted up on South Mountain last year for a day, and didn't even see a doe. Actually, I didn't even see and sign. I sure did see a lot of deer on private land. I even saw a nice four-point in a residential area in Durango. I spent a lot of time last year trying to learn the unit. I don't mind getting two or three miles off the road to find a decent buck. I did a lot of hiking last year, and had a great time. Thanks for the reply and any further assistance you may be able to provide. Jeff

Some area around Bayfield has public ground. Sauls creek area. A lot of other hunters in the past. Good luck

I went into Saul's Creek last year one day. I think the hunters outnumbered the deer by about 20 to 1. I know most of them were hunting elk. There seemed to be a camp every couple hundred yards along the main road, and just about eveyone was using an ATV off the road. Do you know anything about the YellowJacket area? Thanks for the help.
