So, anyone care to share some valuable information regarding this hunt. You know, where, when, weather, how, camp or motel it, roads, expectations, what to hold out for, etc., etc.

Well, hopefully you have scouted the unit already. You can stay in a hotel like the Grand canyon motel or you can set up a camp/wall tent anywhere you please. This year might be full of alot of snow, the weather already has turned cold and a bit of snow is already flying so for the late hunt, it could be real snowy and messy (bring chains). As for what to hold out for, what do you have already? This unit has monsters so if you already have a 180" type buck, hold out for a monster if you are going to be up there for the whole hunt. Where you hunt will be dependant partially on the weather, cause if we get a bunch of snow, you will have a bunch of deer down lower, but with the late hunt, you should be looking for does and with the does, there will be bucks regardless of where you find these does................hope you shoot a monster......... Thanks, Allen Taylor......

My Dad and I are going up this weekend to check things out one final time. I've been told the whole unit is excellent, and to just keep busting the bruch. I would love to tie my tag on a heavy non-typical. I know the genes for this type of buck are there. Good luck to you and to all those going hunting soon.

Bridger Knoll area will be where you want to be after the snow flies. Go high and glass everywhere. This will be your best option. If no snow, go just east of this area in the foothills. Good luck and hope you shoot a big one!

Best hunt I've ever been on...If I remember right, we hunted at 7200 ft or below the whole hunt...Be picky! we looked over 80 bucks in 2 days of scouting and 4 days of hunting before I shot a 180 6by4..I had passed up a couple nice 180 typicals before shooting that buck..I liked his character though..he had an 8 incher kicker that I couldn't pass on...3 days later i saw 25 doe's with 10 bucks around them..the two biggest were a 190 class 30 inch typical and a 200 class 32 inch nontypical...I would have loved to tag one of those bucks, but I don't have any regrets..My buck was the first with cheater's that I have killed..Know what you want going into that hunt and hold out for him..If you hunt HARD for the whole hunt, there is a good chance that you will see what you want..Hike as much as possible!! You can be much more picky that way...by the end of that hunt we had seen 125 bucks..I talked to a guy on the 6th day of the hunt who was road hunting the whole time,,he had seen less than 10 bucks..the biggest sounded like an average 3 point..Don't waste your tag like that! The rut get better everyday. Good Luck!

Early rifle starts the 27th. I am going up to help on some hunts next wednsday and be there just for fri/sat/sunday then back to work. I hope everyone does real well........ Thanks, Allen Taylor......

Take your varmit call with you and during the middle part of the day blow it in to the caynons. This might sound odd but it works great. Two years ago this is how I found my bigest buck. Pack a lunch and hunt all day.
