has the 3pt rule helped this area any?

I'm getting fready for the Nov 11th hunt. Don't know if the 3 pt rule has helped....

Have you hunted this unit in the past....first time for me.

I have hunted that unit for 18 years. To be honest the 3 point rule really hasnt helped in fact it may have hurt it. To many people were/are shooting then looking to see if it has 3 points. If anything is going to help this unit it is the draw system now. Your not going to find huge bucks in this unit compared to 31 but you will see plenty of deer. Get away from the crowds and you should do great.

Alot of people go up into the gaudalupes near Queen. Stay low on either side of the guads and you should get into some.

I hunted there on the muzzle hunt this year. I saw 109 deer in 5 days, and out of that grand total one was a legal buck. That is a great buck to doe ratio!

well, saw a few deer, one decent buck...didnt shoot anything though.

my first time out there, and that crap is quite a bit different than chasing whitetails in mississippi. i considered it a successful hunt...

ive never seen a deer hold so tight, nearly have to kick them to make them jump up.

elkman, i experienced about the same thing..

youd think with that 3pt rule, thered be small legal bucks running everywhere...but there arent.

Well its going to take more than one year for it to get any deer in there with the 3 point rule. Its not going to happen in one year. I say give it 3 to 5 years.

we hunted unit 30 first rifle hunt and saw lots of nice bucks near queens 3 of us taged out in 2 days 1 5x4 and 2 4x4s did see some bigger bucks come out of there. but not like it use to be in the past. need any more help about the area let me know..good luck..

we hunted 34 and caught four guys checking the fields on the property we were hunting and we caught them jumping the private property fence caring beer and droping the empty ones we took their plate number and right before dark we drove out to the field on the highway and they were stopped in the road shooting in to unit 30 we drove up behind them and they took off and we turned around and saw the deer they were shooting at and they pulled up behind us and started shooting from their truck right in the road the nmgfd had their decoys set up and were parked at the ranch we were hunting need less to say four guys went to jail three deer were shot only one legal. the year before same thing caught someone shooting non legal deer the point restriction is not working very well because people shoot what ever they want anyway.
