On my way back from an elk hunt in Wyoming my wife and I stopped in at Cabelas in Lehi Utah. After spending about an hour in the store we decided to leave. A man pulled up next to me and was checking out my elk antlers in the back of my truck. The man said he just saw a 5 point bull walking along the railroad tracks right in front of Cabelas. My wife and I took a frontage road heading back towards SLC and sure enough here's this nice bull making his way right under a housing subdivision right in the middle of town. The date was Oct. 3rd.

I work across the street from there at a small office for a construction firm. I saw the bull laying off the side of the road with blood coming from it's mouth the other day. I called it in to the Sherrif. I don't know what happened to it because I had to get to a meeting but I did see two guys pulled over looking at it. Hope they didn't cut off the antlers. It was a nice bull. It has been wintering where Cabelas is for the last few years. Guess he had no where to go with all of the new houses and parking lots.

There are still people that think they can hunt on the point of the mountain. I see them all the time in November. I turn them in every time I see it.
I like to watch the deer that winter on the point. Every year I will find a carcass or two with its head cut off. I hope one of these days they screw up and they try it on my week off. I think the point is one of the worst places for poachers in Utah.
