O.K Eelgrass...It was the fourth day of the season and I was feeling really good,no snow or rain,so I picked a long steep ridge to hunt that looked like it might hold a buck in the patch of timber at the top.It took me two and a half hours to get to the top and I hadn't seen one deer yet.I decided to take a break and give the legs and lungs a rest.I sat on this old log and looked across to the adjoining ridges and spotted a small forken horn in the snow.I watched this little guy for 4 or 5 minutes when this nice 3 point walked out of a brush patch and walked broadside in the snow, very nice 3 point I thought, but I'm going to hold out for a nice 4x4.Then the buck stopped and looked right at me,holly crap,5 or 6 inches past each ear tip,I lost it as I droped my leica range finder the second time but managed a 398 yard reading. At the end of the log was a perfect stump to shoot off of,as I settled in to my scope I counted my dots 2,3,4 said a prayer and squezzed the trigger,Whop, was the first thing I heard then the buck dropped and slid 10 yards down the hill in the snow.I figured it would take me a hour to reach the deer so I oppted to head back to camp and get my partner and the horses to get the buck.My partner reached the buck first and I asked how wide is he and he said I don't know but he's over 30.When we got back to camp we put the tape on him and got 33 and a half. This is the biggest 3x3 that I have ever seen and fill blessed to have taken it...Devlin
