Glen if you are familar with the area I took him about a quater mile north of Copperton. I did see some nice bucks on this hunt. This was the tenth legal buck I saw in less than two days of hunting.

SWMHUNTER,
Congrats,Thats a nice meat buck, just what I need! Is that area open for the Jan bowhunt and if so are there still plenty of bucks there?
I have a tag for unit 16 this time around.
Kipper,
There is not a Jan. bowhunt in unit 10. The only bowhunt is in Sept. Yes there are still a fair amount of bucks up there. Like most places in NM you just have to get out and look for them. What part of 16 are you looking at hunting?
The hunt we have is Jan 1-15 and it's states unit 16 which I'm assuming is all the elk sub-units combined. I was thinking of checking around the sixshooter ,collins areas. A firend of mine said to head for the juniper and pinon. This will be the first time in that unit for deer and the late hunt at that,so any and all help would greatly be appreciated.
I would check out the collins area for sure, I would check out the border of 16e and 16d and look in the pj when our you going down their, i will be in 15 in jan. if we our down their at the same time i could show you some spots on a map
The area around Snow Lake was holding some deer week before last. They were hitting the burn area fairly hard. The area around Turkeyfeather Pass holds some nice deer as well.
