Nice Bucks. I was just wondering whats up with the camo on the truck? Is that really necessary hunting down there?

Thanks guys, matt I think he dose that to the truck to keep it from geting scratchs, he uses magnets and then puts that other stuff over it.

Thanks for the pictures! Great bucks, sounds like a exciting hunt.
How about some stories.

BigPig, no they were all rifle kills, he found his little bow in his dads truck and wanted to hunt to.

The first two deer were killed on the first day before 11:30 in the morning, both about 200 yard shots. I passed on the big three point right at dark on the first day (just couldnt shoot a 3 point on the first day) although it was hard to do so, saw about 250-300 head of deer that day.

My cousin made it out the next morning so we headed back to the area we seen the 3 point in to see if he would shoot it, right at day light we saw a large group of deer right on the sky line about 700 yards away, with about 10 deasent bucks, at first look we thought the big 3 was in there but after a closer look we realized that he was a 4 point that looked just like the 3 but I think he was a little bit wider, both me and my cousin decided that we wanted this deer so we drove the truck around to the west of the deer were we could hide are aproch by staying behind a hill, we was able to close the distance to about 300 yards, with my cousin being alittle in front of me I told him to shoot, He then told me that he couldnt see the deer due to the riseing sun strait in front of us so I huridly moved forward and got a shot off just as the buck was troting off to leave and missed high, The shot sent the herd on a dead run away from us. My cousin Ty and his Cousin Adam (who is in the first picture) went off on a run to try and get around the deer trying to get another chance at the buck. I decided to just slowly work my way across the flat towards the deer useing as much of the terrain as I could to my advantage, the heard stoped about 700 yards away on the edge of the tree line. I was finaly able to close the distance to 305 yards and use a tree as a dead rest, my first shot hit the buck alittle farther back then I wanted to, the next 2 shots missed (buck fever) and I was able to calm my self down enough to make the last shot count and droped the buck where he stood. As I walked up to the buck I realized that it was not the 4 point but the big 3 from the night before, and after reveiwing the video that adam took of the first shot that I missed, we saw that it was the 3 point I had missed at first (I never saw him in the herd earlyer that morning, and didnt know he was there, so the whole time I thought I was shooting at the 4 point) the 4 point must have gotten nervous when we first spotted them that morning and split off from the herd, we never saw him again. But I figured if I was going to shoot the wrong buck this was the one to shoot, I guess it was just meant to be.

We still had one tag to go, so we spent the rest of the day in a different area trying to find a buck for Ty, we did find a few, he missed a big 23-25 inch 2or3 point, we then decided to glass a large flat till dark, we didnt see anything untill about 15min befor dark were Ty spoted a deer about 700 yards out when i found it I saw a huge buck that would easly go over 33 inchs wide, I told ty that if he ran down there he might be able to get a shot at the buck, him and Adam got down there about 200 yards from where the buck was where they spot a buck standing on the edge of a large patch of oakbrush, Ty begain shooting at the buck he could see and missed 4 times. From my vantage point I watched the large buck as he heard and moved away from Ty and Adam, after I herd the first shot I spoted a second deer, (that we later figured out was the buck ty saw and missed that was till a fine deer but not near as big as the big boy). that was the end of that day.

Being to tired to get up at 4:45am to go hunting the next morning, (after takeing care of my deer and not getting to bed untill 2am) We decided to go and make sure Tys gun was still on target, we found that at 200 yards he was shooting about 2 feet high and a little left, I was able to shoot my gun the day before the season started and my gun was also shooting high and left (but not that much) I figured that it had something to do with us comeing from North Eastern Utah down to Arizona.

We went hunting that afternoon in a diferent area, and didnt see anything Ty wanted to shoot.

The next morning (day 4) we decided to try the area from the night before, just as we were getting to the road we wanted to drive down another truck pulled in right in front of us so we decided to flip a coin to see were we should go (the coin dont lie), The coin told us to go to a spot where Ty had shot a big 170 class buck 2 years earlyer, as we hunted along on the edge of the trees ty saw a glimps of what he thought was a buck about 300 yards away just as it went into the trees so we continued along about 1/2 a mile we then moved closer to the large steep hill that the tree line borderd, I told Ty I was going to go make sure the deer hadnt kept going farther along while he stayed out were he could see the steep slope and move back along the way we came from. After going about 300 yards ty spotted a buck going up the steep slope 100 yards away, he pulls up and sees that it has 4 points on the one side and shoots, the buck makes it around the hill where he couldnt see it. When he got up to where the deer was when he shot he couldnt find anything he went obout 20yards farther and saw a large blood spot in a rock where he found that his buck had fallen down a steep slope and exspired. He waited for me to get there before he pulled the horns out where we could see him, where he reviled a 28 1/2inch wide 5x7 that scores 195 gross N/T points. I still say he is the luckest SOB I know he had no idea it was as big as it was. Ohh it died less than 100 yards from where he killed the 170 class buck 2 years befor.

Well if you've read through my miss spelled rambleings this long thanks for reading along, We had an awsome hunt, and I'm glad I finally had a chance to contribute a good story to this fine web sight.

Good Luck to all on there up comeing hunts. Me and ty still have a late archery hunt that starts Jan.4.

All VERY nice bucks, some score better than yours, but on looks alone, I'd go with yours - he's really got a pretty rack. I like how he's wide and tall, nice matching browtins, and his main beams are awesome how they curve up at the ends - just a really nice loking buck, I'd take him any day.

Score another great buck for a Basin boy! Good job Jake. You aren't ever going to find another 3 pt. bigger than that!
