I'm hoping to get a little advice on some good places to look for my dads late muzz hunt that starts on Monday for unit 335 Teanaway. We talked to a biologist who said all the big bucks have been hanging out down low this time of year. He also said that a hair loss disease has really impacted doe and fawn populations, but he hasnt seen it much on the bucks. The unit stretches to parts near cle elum and e-berg and was curious if anyone living in the area is seeing any nice ones. Last year the bio said some real nice bucks were taken, and if it is anything like last year, he should hold out for something at least 26 wide. Also anyone who knows anyone willing to give permission to hunt private land, it would be very much appreciated. The original areas we planned on hunting are all up high, so now we want to stick low. With all the weather moving in suddenly, this will hopefully be a great hunt or at least a really wet one.

Thanks guys

Hello,

I hunt with a muzzleloader in the same area, and dont understand how you can be hunting in this area. It is not open during the late muzzleloader hunt. Unless you one of the three people to receive the buck only draw. If that is the case, then Salmon le Sac is a great area, Hopefully there is some snow on the ground, it starts the higher elevation bucks to move down. I've found the lower lands to be best just off the main roads and about the middle of the hills. Anyhow, another place to try would be Red Top Mountain, it usually will hold several shooters as well. I'm not sure how well you dad gets around, but this could be done with little walking or hiking.

Goodluck with your hunt!

He does happen to be one of the luck three!! I steered him in the direction of the south east corner of the unit, west of hwy 97 between Ellensburg and the 970 Jct and also some areas off of 970 east of Cle Elum. I spent a summer in the area and saw many nice bucks in the lower land where the farm land meets the timber. I am assuming that he should hunt those kind of areas in this time of year as well. I have never been there this time of year so any input would be appreciated by UncleBuck I am sure.
