Fillmore Area Deer

Thanks to the 2004 season it seems that mature deer in the Fillmore area all long gone. There were a few small deer this year but nothing worth mentioning. It used to be a decent area but I think that everyone who had a southern region permit hunted that area in 2004 killing anything that moved. Now we are feeling the effects. SAD!! I think that across the state region boundaries need to be reduced and a few more regions created to limit the impact in one certain area. Spread hunters out a little more.

to bad you saw only a few deer.... snow and fires hunters best friends..... can't blame the hunters for wanting bigger deer! I was in the southern this year and saw a few nice bucks...so they are still around....
lots of fawns and yearlings too...
I did not drive to Utah to harvest a spike or forked buck!

I hear ya...we hunted near Fillmore also. (along with the rest of the state) We seen a pile of deer and seen a pile of bucks. We saw one decent buck get killed and seen one more that we couldn't get a shot at. Other than that, 5 days and a ton of bucks and they were all spikes, 2 points, and 3 points. And we seen a lot of those little bucks get killed. We had 5 tags and we didn't fill any of them.

I was over in the monticello area....same story.
Lot's of arguments over the solutions too, see the thread below about making the south and southeastern a 9 day versus a 5. Lot's of issues leading up to the problems we are having in that half of the state and a lot of great thoughts and insight's in the posts.
