My father in law took this one in 75 Colorado.
5x3 and nice mass. He was pretty happy as last 2 years he really has not been able to hunt due to knee problems and he's going in next week for a knee replacement. So this buck made his day.
After he shot it, he went up to check it out and about 30 head of deer ran out right past him, he said there was 2 bucks in there much bigger. He never saw all these deer as they were not out in the open yet. Just this guy.

Dug, that is a nice buck and congrats to your father-in law but why no smile if he is happy? LOL
Hope the knee surgery comes out ok and he gets back on the road to recovery soon, exercise the knee like the doctors tell him or he will have problems later.

That is actually me in the picture, that is why there's no smile, I didn't shoot the dang thing. lol.

Wow....cool lookin' buck. Wonder if he's regressing a little bit. Was he an older buck? Really like the mass and character on him. Thanks for the pics.

He has great mass, you can not tell in this picture but he is actually a 5x3, 5 on the right side.

There must be a gene around this area because the front forks are just little crab claw like points, The buck I shot 4 years ago in same area, same type of rack but not near the mass or spread but same type of points and formation.
then my buddy shot a 5x5 last year in same area and same thing. All the forks were just crab claws, 2-3 deep forks, nice spread again, decent mass but weak forks. Kind of weird, also found a shed, same thing.

Dutch, Hey, that's a good looking buck. I just got back from 75. This is my second year hunting there, and the third season was real tough. I hunted up high for three days, and saw one buck, two does, and one deer's rear (no telling if it was a buck or a doe)on public land. The locals said the second hunt was real good, but the deer were already down low for the third. The Bayfield area was loaded with deer on private land. The limited public land access down low was packed with hunters. Anyways, my buddy and I each took small four points. The lady who rented us our cabin killed a HAMMER of a buck during the second season on private land. Were you hunting up high or down low? I hunted around Vallecito Lake (unit 751). I don't know if I will put in for that unit next year.
