Well, 2 year drought finally broken yesterday afternoon. Came up through some trees, spotted 3 does and a decent 3 point buck standing there looking at me. After they busted out of the trees I ran up about 25 yards because I knew there was a clearing up ahead where they were going.
Surprise! Hit the clearing and there were about 40 head of deer standing there looking at me. After scanning the whole herd this was the biggest one (when I first saw him, he looked much bigger). Anyways there were a bunch of does behind him and I didn't want to shoot with them there. All of the sudden they just cleared out and as soon as they did he turn and started quartering away from me at about 125 yards. I thought, oh-oh, this might not be a good result if I shoot here but knew I could not wait, so with the trusty old .270 I squeezed off and down he went. I hit him right behind the should (for me, it was a great shot!). I was happy because even though his spread is only about 22-24 inches, I have not measured him yet. He is still the prettiest, biggest one I have ever taken. I'm guessing (believe me this is a guess) he should be close to a 150 buck, I don't know though. Also sorry the pics are through the grass but i was by myself!

Very nice deer, congratulations. I say your estimate on the score is real close, may score a tad bit more. Nice deer either way you look at it.

Nice shot. Nice buck. Your score guess is likely pretty close. That thing looks like he could be a twin to one I shot last year.

Thanks guys, the funny thing is this all reminded me of "my name is earl" show. You know the Karma thing?
Well, I get off work at like 12, already I'm being rushed to get up to my hunting spot. So I'm cruising along about half way there I pass a car on the side of the road.
Well, lo and behold it is a little old lady and I see a jack in her hand (probably in her early 70's), 2 cars go by and don't even slow down. So I'm thinking buck but I'm also thinking I cann not let that little old lady hurt herself.

So I turn around, change the tire for her then when I lower her car, her spare is almost flat. Now I'm thinking, great she's going to drive 5 miles and this thing is going to blow out. So I offered her to drive her up to a nearby fire house and hope someone is there with an air compressor, well, of course no firemen in the house. So finally I find a BP office with a shop in the back and an air hose, take her back to her car, follow her another mile back to the BP office, fill her tire up and I was finally off!

I was later thinking that day "God, if Karma is true then I really deserve a nice buck today!"

Kind of funny.

Happy to hear you tagged out this year.
That's a nice buck. I actually like the pics through the grass too! Let us know the final measurements, let's see you close you are!

Congragulations he is such a good looking buck that he makes that Colorado Buffalo shirt in the background not quite so ugly lol.
