LAST EDITED ON Nov-17-06 AT 03:33PM (MST)[p]This is the 25 inch 3 pt I shot in montana this year. We saw several in the 25 inch class and I liked this one so made it happen. I will try to post more pics of my buddies buck etc

There we go...Scott's buck was just shy of 25 inches and a full 4 pt...

We hunted the Missouri Breaks out of Zortman, got there Nov 5. Had some info from a MM member sorry cant remember his name..Went and checked this area out on Monday and saw a nice 4 pt sniffing a doe along with multiple other small bucks. We passed and checked a couple other areas. On the second day we went back in. It seemed the bigger bucks were hearding does on the sage flats even though the temps were mid 60's. We spotted a big 3 pt and watched him for a while...in those big sage flats the Sworovski spotter works great esp 2 miles away...when he worked his way up into the canyons we followed and ran into several other decent bucks. One of which was the buck I ended up shooting. We saw my buck and after a 10 min debate on width I made a sneak...When I came around a row of small pine he was bedded with some does, up they all jumped and I pounded him at 40 yds. 2 mile of up hill in the dark and we were sipping a cold one. Next day same area I spotted the 4 pt My buddy killed 2 miles away...we circled a long way as the wind was blowing 40 mph...We got right on to him and Scott had a chance at 150 yds but couldnt steady the rifle in the wind shooting over a small knoll...we let him walk and caught up to him in the next little draw. Scott layed down and poked him at 75 yds. Finally the weather cooled enough at night we were worried about the meat...in the end it all worked out...next day we drove to a different unit as we had Deer B doe tags and roaded up a couple of does...Friday we packed up the humpy hut and headed for WA with a truck load of meat. Hope to go back next year...way better bucks than Broadus!

fANTASTIC! Nice Buck! question for you? how did you manage to shoot him without wearing CAMMO?

There have been many a deer shot without wearing camo...With the bucks in rut and the wind right...(orange was removed for photos)

Congrats on a couple of nice breaks bucks.

Its funny what you hear. I have been hunting the breaks for the better than 15 yrs now and most people that I talk to say there a lots of bigger bucks around Broadus. I always wondered why they were huning in the breaks then...guess now I know.

Unfortunately I think it will take a couple of years for the deer to recover after this season. I have never seen this many people down there. The FWP in their infinite wisdom issued an extra 600 cow tags in the four hunting districts around Zortman. While this may not sound like a lot for an area this big but, from what I have seen every one that has a cow tag brings at least one friend and they both take a deer while they are there. I saw more 3 and four points in the back of pickups than I can count.

I truly hope that I am wrong. In these parts it is hard enough to find a trophy class buck without the FWP working against us.

Nice looking bucks! I wish I had been with ya on this one. Maye next year, but the odds are you'll draw again for the 4th year in a row and I still won't draw.
