It was the last day I could stay for my DIY Eastern NV muzzleloader hunt, and this guy made himself available. Saw some bigger and tried for almost two weeks to get one of them, but it just didn't work out. Hard to ask for anything more - Get up each day of the hunt and go after a huge deer you spotted the day(s) before.
NV does a great job with their deer. They limit the tags, there is lots of public land, and they protect most units from rut hunting. I can't wait to go back.
Sure wish I had been able to close the distance on one of the bigger ones I had chased. With an open sighted muzzleloader, long shots (125 yards was my self-imposed limit) are not an option. After seeing a really big guy on the fourth day, I hunted him exclusively and passed on a lot of really nice bucks that maybe I should have shot. But, that is the chance one takes when trying for the monster. Would do it the same way if I had the tag next year.
Hope you all have a great hunting season!
