Two of my daughters finished hunter safety, bought bows, and want to go hunting elk and deer in Utah. They have been practicing a lot and will continue to do so until we go. I have an OK place to go deer hunting but would appreciate any help that I could get with ideas of where to take them for the archery elk hunt here in Utah. I would just like to get some opportunities for them to see some elk and hopefully get close enough for a shot. I live in the Ogden area but would travel wherever we could have a good chance of seeing some elk - cows, spikes, or bulls. I do not have much experience at all with elk hunting, basically none, but would love to get them started right. I have been coaching football the last 20 years and this will be my first year bow hunting since I started coaching. Anyway, as I said, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Where do you live? I would check out any LE ekl unit close to home. You can shoot a spike or cow and a possibly a buck all in the same place if you have tags for them. Good luck

It was a big bodied 2 point.

Thanks. I usually hunt near Oakley and have done a lot of scouting there. I also went down near Scipio to check some of that area out. I have both deer and elk archery tags. One daughter has a youth archery deer tag and the other has an elk archery tag so we do want to go to an area that we will hopefully see some of each species. It should be a lot of fun just getting out there with them.
