Elk Question

I have been into the same area the last two weeks checking out some elk and while glassing yesterday morning a single engine plane flew all around the area nice and low for about 30 minutes.
Will this have caused the elk to head to new country or can I expect to see similar numbers on the opener?

This is a general bull unit, public land.

Thanks

I have seen elk actually look up to the sky, turn and walk into the pines, and wait for the plane to pass by. After a few minutes they came right back out. I watched one cow actually back herself into a big old juniper, and let some hunters walk by that were making a drive. All that was sticking out was her nose. After they past, she came back out and walked the opposite direction. I saw a different elk actually keep a patch of willows between him and a guy on a horse. As the guy went around one side, the bull did just the opposite on the other. That's why I call them "smart eliks". they can be absolutely stupid at times, but can also be amazing.

Oh no, I hope this doesn't lead to a bunch of posts that it was one of Utah's premier outfitters (who shall remain nameless) and they are already blocking roads prior to hunting season and that a friend of a friend who's third cousin's grandpa saw them doing it!

I wouldn't worry too much about the airplane. I think you should be more worried about the ATV's that will descend on the unit in massive numbers once opening day approaches.

It's a wilderness area so hopefully won't have to worry about any ATVs and while I'd be happy with any of the bulls up there I can't see any outfitter taking a client up there.
