Where would your points go?

I'm sitting on 11 resident UT points for deer. I've done some quick math, I'm pretty much assured any hunt except the Henry's.
My question is where would you put these points?

Here is my criteria:

1- I really just want a buck that will look great on the wall, I'm not real big on scores, but to give you a perspective, I'm looking for something 175"-185" minium.

2- unit needs to have some true "pigs".

3- rifle or muzz is fine, probably would prefer muzz - don't trust myself to bet my 11 points on archery.

4- I've been looking hardest at:
Paunsagaunt
Henry MTNS
Book Cliffs
San Juan

That being said, I can be convinced of anything - where would you put these points?

Thanks

steelie!

What you described, as far as I know, is the Henry's. I would settle for nothing less with your points. Oak Creek is not on that list and I would put it under Henry's for big bucks? Someone else would have to confirm though. It is a rugged hill, but I hear some giants exist.

Just my opinion. Maybe someone else has some advice.

steelie,

I thought you were an NR. Dude, you need to sort through the CWMU odds. As a resident you can get some great hunts. Look through them and I would say any unit that takes at least 7 points to draw will be on your list of candidates. I would call the operators and find out what they are like. I am not sure of the names of the good ones but I could tell you a few in private!

The Henry Unit is as good as any unit is the country for trophy mulies. Hands down the best in Utah. Muzzy being the best weapon choice.

Steelie-

Are you in a hurry? With 11 pts and Muzz as an option, you are probably 2-3 years away from being guaranteed a tag. That's not long in the "big picture" of things if you've already waited 11+ years. I agree, CWMU's might be an option and you would be 100% in most of those.

Personally- I would look into other states for your big deer (if an option) and wait a few and enjoy those Henry Mtns!

Oak creek can be a great unit, but is the most physically demanding hunt in Utah IMO. You are a 1-2 mile hike to be into good bucks. The country is rough, steep and ledgy. There are a few super bucks in this unit but they are few. A typical day in this unit you will see 10 deer with half being bucks and most of those bucks 20-24 inch 4 points. I think the muzzy may be the best hunt in this unit as you get first crack at em with a gun. Not trying to stray you away from this unit, just want you to know what your getting into. I personally would wait the 2 years and get a Henery Mtn tag. Good Luck either way.

HENRY, HENRY, HENRY!!! You've waited this long, hold ot for the Henry MTN muzzleloader and do your homework. You'll do very well.

I wouldn't look past some of the CWMU's out there. You would want to talk with the operator for sure, but I would maybe consider promontory, ensign ranches. Wish I had your dilema.

Thank you all for your suggestions, I'll probably stick it out for the Henry's. Opening that envelope and seeing "unsuccessful" another year might just put me over the edge though.

The reason Oak Creek is not on the list is I grew up next to it and spent my youth hunting it, before it was a LE. It is a great unit with some real bruisers, it was a great general unit as well, nobody seemed to know it then though. And yes, it is very rugged. I would just rather spend my points on someplace that's new to me...., and get a great buck.

Thanks again.

Now, what about that same situation for a nonresident? I don't think the Henries is realistic.
