Elk Habits

So I hiked back into a remote basin that I have been wanting to scout for a while and I was very very pleased. I found the biggest bull that I have ever seen in an area that I can hunt. And also the best muley. My question is, how long will the bulls hang around @ 11,000 ft. and is it possible that he will stay in this general BIG basin for a few weeks.. I highly doubt there will be any pressure?

Ideas or suggestions?

Generally speaking elk will remain in the same area and follow the same habits until one of the following happen, pressure, lack of water or feed, weather conditions change, or the need for a female companion. From your brief description of the area your biggest factor for him to leave the area would be his need for a female companion. I would not suspect that weather, water, or feed would alter his behavior until late September early October.

LAST EDITED ON Aug-22-11 AT 11:32AM (MST)[p]ok. That sounds like a reasonable expectation. I will pray for a few cows to come into this guys house. You are correct with your assumption. There is plenty of water and food this year and the snow has kept much of the access to this area closed. I will also try to post pictures tomorrow because I know how much I like to see pictures.

thanks for the info.
