Not unless there's a Moab in Colorado.

If that's a general season Utah deer I'll give the lucky hunter a DVD and call him Utah's greatest and luckiest hunter of 2006.

Gotta be a Colorado buck.;) Unless SFW and MDF started a conservation steroid program.:)

LE area in Utah maybe, but I (highly) doubt it-General season (we can only wish)!

Colorado-could likely be anywhere in the state........

Hope I'm wrong-it wouldn't be the first time.

That's a great buck. Looks like too much grass to be in the Moab area, but what do I know.

Awesome deer.

Mark

I'd bet money on Colorado. When is the last time you saw someone in Utah with that much orange on? Hell, for that matter, when's the last time you saw someone from Utah hunting in Colorado with that much orange on?

That's a hell of a buck!!!!!!!!! Congrats to a lucky guy on a true whopper.

It was originally posted on the F&G website... this is the 2nd thread about it on MM. If you dug around over there in the photos section you could find out more about it. The first pictures posted had the eyes photoshopped so they didnt glow... but then the shooter was accused of photoshopping the whole thing so he posted a bunch of pictures showing its real.

It was killed on the last or 2nd to last day of general season if I remember right.

Wowzers! Nice buck!
Congrats to the hunter, regardless of where he took it.

Dallan,

I've been all over the Utah F&G site and the only photos I can find are posted in the hunting discussion forum. Ran searches with every key word I can imagine and still no luck finding a thread on this buck. What am I missing?

Good eye.
Maybe he cleaned the blood off for the picture.

just havn't seen a buck that big in such a long time, I'm leary of it being doctored...

Robb,

Now you're thinking. Gotta shoot them Colorado deer if they cross the border you know!

A possibility? Yes! But, I think the pic was floating around before the Delores Hunt.

Somebody has to have some intel on the buck????

Hunter Orange=funny stuff!

I got this in an horn-porn email at work, there was about 15 pics of it - so unless someone spent alot of time photoshopping 15 pics, its real. I thought the email said Utah general season, but I agree - that is not very believable.

Fake or real?

Nice buck. I agree it looks fake. It does not look like a photo shop job, but it looks like something was done to the antlers before the photos.

Also, small body for such big horns. Finally, I sure can't see a bullet hole (not that that means anything). Fun to look at though.

Finally, that hunter sure has a grin going on. Know, I would grin pretty big if I saw that buck, let alone shot it. But, that grin gives me pause to think maybe he knows something the rest of us can only guess about.

RE: Fake or real?

One final thing, I mean to take nothing away from that buck. It is awesome. If anyone knows the "real story" post it. Does not look like Utah.

RE: Fake or real?

I have a theory as to why the horn color changes, they are wet, look at how long the grass is if he was feeding along in that it is posible that the main beams were in the grass but the bases of his horns were not. That is an awsome buck.

Sir you need to remember this is a private forum and you should control your words, but you also need to understand this the new age of fake monster deer with reproductions every where, so that was my skepticism...

Once in a life time deer...the understatement of the year....

i'm with you and couse4x4 to many folks calling things wrong with no information to back them up.
great buck congrates to the hunter. he could hang it at my house to remind me what i really want out of life."just one shot or glimps of a buck like that during hunting season."

I was going to mention the orange thing too, as well as the light brown around thr base of the antlers indicating early season which would make 'coues4x4' story makes sense (2nd season).
WOULD LOVE MORE INFO!!!!!!!!!!!!
THAT IS ONE HECK OF A DEER!!
Congrats to the hunter!!
Jeff

If you look close at the guy?s right hand his middle two fingers are held close together.
His eyes look like he wears glasses but the eye-cups his binos are pulled up indicating to me that he didn't really use them.
The guy can't be from Utah, he has no wedding ring on.
No one could actually kill a mule deer in that color camo. Talk about a fashion faux paus.
And no one even mentioned the unsafe way his rifle is pointed at him. The ethics police are here, where are the safety police?
No one even commented about it being dark (oops, now someone will and yell poacher) :)

My god. His smile looks funny? He has too much orange on? No bullet hole? (if you could see a bullet hole someone would be yelling about being untasteful). The deer doesn't look big enough? (how friggin big should it be?) The bases are too light colored?

I think coues4x4 gave us all the information to confirm the buck is real and where he was shot. Unless you are all questioning his integrity. Wait a minute, it was his first post. He?s not a seasoned veteran here, must be a fake then.

Jeez guys, I know there are lots of fakes out there but not every deer picture you see is a photo shop job. I learned the hard way once not to call BS on a photo too quickly because the guy might show up and tell you otherwise. I want to believe that bucks like that do exist and regular Joes do kill them once in a while.

Fantastic buck. Congrats to the hunter.

Thanks for the info coues4X4, it is truley a wonderful animal. Wish I had seen it in real life!

The site in which I found it basicly said what I listed in original post and knew if I posted it here someone would know the skinny.

If you do have any more info or know the hunter have him register and log in and tell us the story. I know I would like to hear it.

Fake or Real?

My golly. How dare I question a photo posted on a webpage with no information, other than this is a Moab Buck.

To the hunter that shot this buck, please accept my apology. You shot a really big deer and that makes you my hero to no end - just because. Must be an unwritten rule. You must be so proud to have pictures of it posted all over the internet - and just devastated when someone questions it. Again, I am soooooo sorry that I pointed out what someone must have percieved as a flaw with your "once in a lifetime buck" on a webboard dedicated to mule deer hunting.

Seriously though, I think we all woulda shot it, and all woulda been proud of it. So to the hunter, congrats. But, tell your friends to man up and realize that not every suggestion or critique means someone is questioning your manhood or integrity. Especially when there is no friggin story.

RE: Fake or Real?

I hope no one was offended by what I wrote. It just amazes me how we hunters think. It just seems that if a guy with a few hundred posts puts up a picture of a mediocre four point everyone falls all over themselves telling him it must score 185 and be 35 inches wide. Then a picture of a real bomber gets posted, but it's not one of the regulars, and suddenly it is assumed, first and foremost, to be a fake. I know they exist. Too often. But I recall very well a picture posted on another site that looked funny to me. I made an assinine post about the guy standing in the picture and how he wasn't dirty enough and this and that and proclaimed it must be a fake. About a day or two later the guy who was in the picture came on and posted that it was him in the picture and it was real. He posted a bunch more photos to back it up. I still feel like an idiot every time I think of how I insulted a guy I didn't even know(still sorry Sandbrew :) ). I wince every time I see someone do the same.

Happy hunting.

RE: Fake or Real?

If someone wants to post them, let me know. And BTW, that looks a lot like a bullet hole.

RE: Fake or Real?

LAST EDITED ON Dec-01-06 AT 12:23PM (MST)[p]Nice photo. You did find the bullet hole - well placed to boot.

Just so the hunter, his friends, and everyone else knows, I will defend my posts. I was just trying to elicite conversation and dialogue. Like I said, it didn't and does not look like a photo shop job. I agree with whomever said the grass is wet, and that is why his horns look polished.

That is a brute, bruiser, bad arse buck! Its nice to see that some of the story is coming out of this thread. Now, just try not to take offense to the fact that some MM members are discussing YOUR deer (or your friends).

I can't wait to shoot a buck soooooo big that IT LOOKS FAKE and guys on the internet can argue about it.:)

Congrats to the hunter and congrats to Colorado for producing another MONSTER!!!

AWESOME BUCK!

Gotta wonder how many Utards will be hunting around Moab next year;)
