Another BC Buck

I shot this buck in the timber about 5 min drive and an hour and a half walk. I was sneaking along, grunting and using "The Can" doe bleat when I heard some noise on the other side of the steep ridge I was on. I peaked over the top and spotted what I thought was an ass of a deer about 70 yards below me. I looked through the bino's and saw that it was a deer, but could not tell what as it was thick with regen. I used my scope at 9 power to see that it was a doe. When she walked away, I raised my head to get a broader view. When I looked back at where she was standing, I saw some serious bone in her place. I quickly looked back through the scope, saw what I liked and dropped the crosshairs down behind his shoulder and squeezed one off. He walked a couple of steps and then just fell over. When I got down there, a doe ran off and this is what I saw..

He is 186 gross and 179 net green. I waited 5 years, passing up smaller bucks and screwing up on a couple like him before my dues were paid. Got to love timber hunting big mulies!!!

beautiful buck? that's a smoker! Great job! Nets are for fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

very nice, 'sitka'...congratulations. well worth the wait...thank you for sharin' with us...

Nice buck, congrats on your success. Do you feel like the grunting and can had any effect? Or were they just there and you saw them when you peeked over the hill? Just curious.

Wow! Very nice...and I too am curious if you think the "can" and or grunting works with mulies in the rut?

Congrats,

Ernie

Great buck. If you don't mind, what part of BC are you from? You can just say SE, SW, NE, etc. Those pictures prove the field judging wisdom that you cannot size up a buck from the side.
