What do you think this narrow Montana buck would score?

I think hes in the 150's but he could be deciving, dont they have anything to rub there antlers on over there, those are some white horns. He is a cool looking buck, and he looks young could be a realy cool looking monster in a couple years.

The only way to know for sure would be to drill him and get a closer look! J/K Beauty though, love the mass and front end. Whit horned farm buck, huh?

I might have gotten a closer look if I hadn't all ready taken my buck before seeing him. I'll be looking for him next year though. I don't care if if gains another inch of spread if everything else grows.

With mass and points like that I'd dissagree with the young buck comment made by jake. I'd say he an older buck that's got one maybe two years left before he really goes down hill.

How is it that you think he's a young buck. You ever seen "young" buck with mass and short forks like that?

LAST EDITED ON Nov-29-06 AT 04:38PM (MST)[p]Really white face too and he's quite a bit bigger than that doe. my .02

In my mind that is an old buck saggying belly mass on horns. I would be surprised if he is better next year I think he will go downhill. He's also pretty white in the face.

WHOAA, I didnt know I was on trial here, but to awnser your Question yes I have seen "young" bucks with mass like that depending on what you think is young your assesment could be differnt than mine, I thought he was about a 4 year old deer with 4 1/2 inch bases, considering most bucks dont reach there prime untill they are 6-8 (in MY oppion) he could easily not have reached his maximum growing potential. Maybe I miss judged him then again maybe not.

I do find it odd that you felt the need to call me out on my statement, rather than just saying that you thought it was an older buck, were as you wouldnt have even gotten my attention.

Young....Nah...the one net to him is young!

That buck has 5 1/2 PLUS inch bases...I would'nt be scared to say they are 6... my .02 I guess.

Bang...Any day, any year...

My step brother shot this one last year within a mile of the narrow buck. I think they were related. The deer I've taken there the last few years look nothing like these.

Looks like he is standing in a crp field, which explains alot.

Crp bucks normally have horns that are very light in color and most of the time still have some velvet on them even at the end of the season. They tend to be much fatter than a normal deer would be and have that pot belly look. Looks to me like a 3-4 year old buck that has lived the majority of his life in a crp field.

I took a 3-4 year old buck in 02 out of a crp field that weighed in excess of 300 pounds on the hoof. We didn't have a scale to weigh him that would go over 200 pounds and I didn't want to cut him in half just to get a dressed weight. Now I kinda wish that I had, just out of curiosity. The fat layer on his back was well over an inch in most places and the taste of the meat was impossible to tell from beef.
