WOW!

In one of the GOOD Elk Huntin Spots on SJ I witnessed some REAL TARDS in just a few days!

1st morning early(Dark!),I get run off the road clear off in to the barrow ditch by somebody on a RAZOR doing about 50 MPH comming around a Blind corner completely on my side of the road,not a problem,a few scratches/gouges & I'm good to go!

First Day mid-day I caught a TARD Chasing a couple of Bucks with his Wheeler right out through the Brush!

2nd Day mid-day I decided to Hike in to a Wallow,a 2 mile Hike,I get in there & can tell the Wallow has been active but not for about 2-3 days maybe,as I leave the Wallow I find an Ilegal Wheeler Trail busted in from the opposite direction I walked in from,well that kinda SPLAINS things!

2nd Evening:Heard a kid SCREAMING: 'DAD!' DAD! DAD! DAD!,He was not far from a couple different Roads/Trails,I hope His Dad wasn't Lost but Damn Man,He Blowed every Elk out of the Area for the Evening Hunt,right after that another Hunter comes up to me & asks if He can Glass with me,I say:Sure,Why the Hell not,then He asks me what I think about the Elk Management,I tell him if they keep killing Spikes & Cows they can kiss the whole thing goodbye,Well,I pissed him right off,He was Hunting Spikes & Cows!

3rd Morning:Same Area(as 2nd evening!) early this Morning we have a Gal from Qwest with 2 MUTTS right in the middle of the Good Stuff we were Hunting,I was also watching another Hunter in the same area working a Bull & the Qwest Gal/MUTTS Fouled that deal up!

This is just Average Everyday BS that goes on now days!

Am I mad?

HELL NO!

The Events I mentioned above ain't nothin!

There were Events way better than this before I got down there & I'm not sayin Nothing!

If other Hunters want the more Impressive Events posted I'll let them post them,I wasn't involved in the Better JACKASS of Events!

Other than that it was a Nice time with Family & Friends & the Elusive 350"+ Bulls!

As the people pressure increased,it was the same ole story,ATV's everywhere & most of the Bulls Hushed right up!

Every Accessible Wallow,Weap,Stream & Pond seemed to have have Camps right on top of them by Saturday!

My first thought was maybe somebody was lost!

Through my worthless Bushnell Spotter I could see his Mom/Guardian/Relate/a taller person not a few feet from the kid,don't know if his Dad ventured out hunting & he got Nervous without his Dad or what?

He wasn't alone,just loud!

If I'd of only seen the kid,I'd of been down there in a Heartbeat!

Well, thats a different scenario isnt it. Simple fact is this time of year there are way too many people, hunters and none hunters in the back country. If there were only a way to limit back country access this time of year to just the stick flippers with a LE tag then we could have more big bulls running around with arrows sticking out of them! lol

A Hounder Started a Bear Right in Our Camp first thing this morning & caught the Bear!

Am I mad because there were several Hounders on the Mountain Running Bears while a LE Elk Hunt was going on?

I was in the mountains this weekend too bessy. Only difference down here is that we have texans!

In the oil patch we can take a 6 foot wide road and pass two drilling rigs with over size load signs going different directions at 90 mph! But texans cant pass two damn smart cars on an 8 lane highway if both sides have more than a 3 foot vertical drop!

I was trying to pass a lesbaru with texas tags on a county maintained gravel road in the high country. I'm in my f250 superduty with an 8" lift and 38" tires and had my bull bar darn near in her face and she was backin up faster than she's ever driven in any forward gear. I even had the decency to put both my passenger tires on the side of the hill in an attempt to try and show her the entire road was hers. QTIP couldn't quit laughin at that one for a while. I finally said screw it and went barreling down that road at 50mph. Those friggin texans nearly comitted suicide tryin to bail off that road and all I was doing was passin them normally as I would any other vehicle on a semi narrow road. I think one lady flipped me off so hard she broke her finger.
 
So how did your new wheeler fare? Were you impressed with it? You seemed really proud of it when you brought it over to show me.

I was down on the SJ a few years ago with a buddy who had a anyweapon tag. One morning we woke up to a pack a hounds going back and forth though camp. I guess they had jumped a bear just below us and it ran right though camp.

On the Monroe this year there has been a Polaris Ranger driving around with a platform built on the back for two road hunters to stand on. They drive around drinking beer and tossing beer cans all around the mountain. Tards at their best!

I know that even "up north" we had a ton of pressure over the holiday. Everyone was out for the final recreation of the year. With that behind us maybe we can start some serious hunting for the next few months.... well... until the general deer season. LOL

I always know I'm in an area of over-crowding when I get really upset with all the jokers even before I can get out of the truck to hunt.

Bless us all! Hunting is a personal, private, semi-selfish endeavor and I really don't like the fiascos.

I guess I'm a Jack-ass of Sj. I was the guy who pulled up and spent an hour or so glassing with you. You seemed a little angry at the world when I talked with you. I wasn't offended you didn't like spike hunters, didn't mean I wasn't going to hunt spikes. Everybody has a diffrent opnion of the spike hunt but as long as they sell tags it's a good excuse to spend a weekend on SJ looking at elk.

I tried to find out where your hunter was at so I could avoid him while chasing spikes. I talked with the other guy spotting with your group several times. Even talked to your hunter our last morning. I told them about the bigger bulls I had seen the two days I was there and asked where they were hunting so I could go somewhere else. Last thing I wanted to do was ruin sombodies trophy hunt while I was chasing spikes. Don't know why you are so angry, but your hunting partners seemed like good guys.

Kinda stated my mind before I even thought about you being a Spike Hunter,don't worry,I ain't changing my mind about Spike Hunters/Hunts,It's total BS but I'm not mad at you,Ya I'm mad at the DWR for allowing Spike Hunts to happen during what is perty much a Once in a Lifetime Hunt in an LE Unit!

It took some Guys up to 16-18 years to Pull this Tag & now they have to contend with a f'n Spike Hunt during their Hunt!

No Elk. Had a great time saw some good Bulls. Did my best to help the big bull hunters and stay out of their way. Makes it difficult to hunt for yourself.

I learned one valuable lesson, This may be my last time to go on Labor day weekend. I've never seen the crowds as bad as this weekend. I'm going to try and avoid the crowds in the future.

Didn't think you were mad at me, until I made the list of Jack-asses so I had to reply.

Don't worry Braden, at least he didn't sit there and ignor you. Bbop seems to be angry with everything and everybody all the time. Not drawing a tag could do that to a feller though :)

BBop, you missed a golden opportunity to hit it off with one of the most knowledgable guys on that mtn. He and his lovely bride Ladyshooter are regulars down that way. I know Noluck is from Blanding and was more than a big help to me on my way off the mtn last year!

Nothing like coming home and checking in to find out you're just one of local Jackasses. LOL!!! I guess you might just have to take that as a compliment comming from him :)

I'm sure we see things differently as almost every hunter that loves the sport does. I also bet we want the same end result.

I want to shoot a 400" bull every year, without running into other hunters, having the entire mountain to myself. I know this seems like a lot to hope for but with proper management I think it can happen.

Just to be clear I don't want to kill every bull on the unit and start over, with that said I've sent you a PM becouse I would love to have a real conversation about your ideas and what you think will work to improve the unit/units in the state. I know I don't have all the answers and would love to hear your ideas.

First off I wanna let you know I did mention you in my original Thread/Post,No you're not one of the JACKASSES I seen on San Juan,You knew We had a Hunter in there(The area I was Glassing when you pulled up!)No,I don't OWN the Mountain & never have Claimed to OWN the Mountain,I just like seeing RESPECT & like seeing ETHICAL Hunters Respecting other Hunters,If that woulda been me stopping by & finding out you had a Hunter/Your Wife in there I woulda moved on to a different location,I'm not saying you done anything wrong,but it's a small area(where the Hunter was!) & a Big Bull Hunter with a Stick Flipper already has his hands Full in that Thick Nasty Stuff!

In 3-1/2 short days I seen a hand full of stunts(nothing to do with you noluck!)that just Soured me,didn't use to be like that,TARD Stunts of all kinds,you can bet I only seen a fraction of the BS that was actually going on!

Before I got down there(SJ!)there was a TARD Stunt that happened to the Hunter that beats anything I seen by a long shot,good GAWD DAMNED thing I wasn't there when that went down or there'd of been a WASATCH TARD roughed up,don't know if the Hunter will post that story or not?I wasn't there when it happened & it's a damn good thing,I wouldn't have been quite as nice,I'll leave it up to Hunter rather He posts that on here or not,ONLY IN TARDville!

Mark my word on it noluck,with current & Future Management on LE Elk Units You'll see alot of things change,they've already changed,changes you're not gonna like,Unlike most Hunters,I like looking in to the Future past tomorrow morning!

For years I tried getting 'PRO' & other Opportunists/PISSCUTTIN FOOLS to get a few of their own types of Elk Units started & manage them as they Damn Well Please but nobody ever did it,they'd rather take advantage of existing LE Units & Destroy them because of GREED!

The LE Units took many years & proper management to get them to where they once were,why the HELL destroy them?

Well noluck,Guess I'm the Black Sheep,different than most,I have NO DESIRE to take a 300" PI*SSCUTTER Bull,you can do that in an OPEN BULL unit,when they get their new Age Objectives(Total BS!)down where they want them I'll send my Bonus Points in & say F'it,I have No Desire to Hunt Dinks/PISSCUTTERS in LE Units!

If Hunters can't see the CHANGE in recent years they'd Best Open their GAWD DAMN Eyes!

I did do my best to avoid hunting in areas that had a LE hunters in them. With the amount of people down there this last week that was very difficult. After I found out generally where your guy was hunting I tried to go the opposite direction that evening.

Side note Ladyshooter is doing good, I'm a lucky man. Unfortunatly this does mean some days I put my skirt on and babysit the kids. She has bivied in twice this year to hunt a buck she was chasing by herself, opening day she was in about 5 miles, while I stayed with the kids. Unfortunatly she was close twice and couldn't seal the deal.

I think there are better ways to manage the elk then have a spike elk hunt on a LE unit. However under the current conditions it appears to be the best option, I hope this changes. I know many will disagree with me on this thats ok. I think the key is to get the rifle hunt out of the rut and increase tags. I think we will see more bulls killed, less old bulls killed, more opportunity, and also we keep quality. I DON'T THINK WE SHOULD SHOOT THE UNIT OUT!!!

I hunted the SJ from the time the elk hunt started, and have seen the herd go from nothing to slaughtering the cows on a yearly bases to keep the objective in check.

There are alot of people trying to recreate in a small space. I would hate to take that away from any of the groups with the exception of Wilderness quest (I think that is a saftey issue. Kids coming off of drugs in close proximaty to campers with expensive equiment and firearms. Not safe, Not smart)

In my perfect world I would own the mountain, unfortunatly I have to share and try to do my best to respect all other parties in pursiut of the own passions. Even hippies. I hate having the hounders there, I don't hate the hounders.

So let me add to my previous post, in my perfect scenerio. I would Own the mountain, hunt 400" bulls every year, not run into any other people. And add another 4 months onto the year in the fall, This way maybe no seasons would overlap. One more think I want to have the elk start rutting the same time every year so I know when the best time to be there is.
 
Well BOP, now you know why I said I left all the good areas a couple years ago when I had my tag. I'd rather have fewer, lesser elk and no people to fight with. The Quester's did make me a little nervous camping out alone while they were doing their night thing.
 
Speaking of the SJ, I don't have a tag, but I've been down there all week driving around on my 4-wheeler, stopping and blowing my call every 1/4 mile or so. I have yet to hear a bull answer. Anyone know what's going on?

Shut the wheeler off? Do you think that matters? I'll give that a try. I think I'll head up to the Pavhant and practice my calling there. I don't have a tag there either but maybe I'll have better luck getting some bulls to respond. Thanks for the tip B Bop.
 
Noluck, Braden, I don't want the DWR to take the rifle hunt out of the rut, I think that is a fun hunt, but I do think they should take away some of those tags and put them elsewhere. The early rifle hunt is fun and exciting, but there is too many tags, take 50% of those tags and you can put them in archery, muzzleloader and Late season.

If only everyone would stay off the SJ, Pahvant, and Monroe unless your a paying customer that would be great!! Curious though, what seperates you from them? Did you have a tag? Bet some dude sittin on a waller watching some clown work his spot"just looking" is about as impressed with you as you are with others. As for that DAMN loud kid. I hate it when a kid get a little nervous in the trees. PEOPLE, hunting is for ALPHA MALES only!!! Leave your kids at home. I mean really, do you see kids in Trophy Hunter? On T.V.? Until a kid can hire his own guide, he is not allowed in the hills.
Lets get a few things straight:
On labor day weekend, only b-bop can be the only one in the hills.
During UEA, B-bop is the only one allowed at Disneyland.
Stay out of the stores at x-mas, only B-bop needs be there.
New years at times square?? Nope, b-bop should be alone.

I love guys who are driving around bitching about others driving around. Guys not hunting, just looking, bitching about others doing the same. Guys who had there dads/grandpas take them hunting when they were kids bitching about kids in the hills.

If only we could get more LE's, cut out more tags, and expand trophy hunting statewide things would be perfect. NOPE, then b-bop won't draw a tag and would then ##### about that!

Dude, go home and kick your dog, beat your wife. As for me and most of us, we'll go camping with our loud azz kids on labor day!! Might ride our quad, might even bust out the glass and do some looking. No what bothers me is two things. First, when grown men complain about kids in the field. First, I was a kid at one time, second I have kids. Second, HYPOCRICY. You don't have a tag but your in the trees, wallers etc., BUT YOU DON'T RUIN ANYONES HUNT. Are you the only guy in the world who knows about this waller? If not, how do you know you weren't busting someones set up? Supposedly your some hunting wizard, so knowledgable about SJ that you are practically invisible, BUT you didn't know that labor day weekend is busy in the hills? DUDE, the sun comes up in the east, it snows in the winter, and holiday weekends people like to head to the hills. Perhaps next time your listening to some loud kid you can look around and notice that. However, I will give you one thing, you do have a lot of people that agree on closing access, SUWA would love to. The reality is this, you were doing the exact things you ##### about, yet for some reason your better than that? Different? Excluded? When your bitching about dudes on the mtn., standing next to you and how damn lame they are, what seperates you from him?? Oh yeah, he had a tag, and was probably really happy to have some yocal crusing around, "educating" both him and the elk he WAS HUNTING. In short, that one finger pointing out the tards, left the others pointing at their leader.

I try to get along with everyone, but this guy has NO respect for other peoples property, how bout the story you told my buddy about how you smeared mud on another trail cam? I know how some feel about trail cams, but hey if they are not yours....don't mess with them. And to use a guys double bull blind he packs a mile in and you drive your wheeler off road to within a few hundred yards so you can save the hike? I met alot of good people on the mtn. while I was down there, but buddy....you sure take the cake. BUT as you said...you ARE THE BEST Taxidermist in Utah so I guess we should all bow to your presence. The funny thing is how you told everyone I was a douche bag. Was that because I got slightly upset and kicked you out of the blind? Because when I found out you were hunting below camp I moved my trail cams to let you hunt there???????

Catman that sucks that you had the misfortune of meeting the self proclaimed best taxi in Utah aka wackmaster . I sure wish you would have tuned up his four wheeler real good if you found it off road .

booper, or what ever you call yourself. although i have never met you and do not know what type of guy you are i have met alot of guys like you. your posts take on the attitude that you are better than everybody else. i know this is only a computer but you seem like a real tuff guy behind the keyboard. and guess what i never met you. you put down people and make fun of them and call them names if they do not agree with you or if they get in your way. you like to poke fun at people you do not know. you are a bully who hides behind a computer. i may not have as many posts as you but i am smarter than you and tougher than you and a better hunter than you. you call people names and try to indimidate them on the computer and when you get confronted you tuck tail and invite them into your camp. like i said i dont know you but you do not make yourself a likeable guy.
 
Kinda reminds me of my grandpa. Kinda rough on the outside but once you get past it and learn how to take him, a guy can realize some of the logic behind the thinking eventhough I know there are MANY things we would not agree on.
