Anyone have any success in Areas 1,2,3 (black hills)? I was thinking of putting in for this tag next year but wanted any information you might have on this region for late season hunting. Thanks,Muley7

I shot a small 2x2 on state land on nov. 3rd. We saw ALOT of deer on private land but not many on public.

Been there in 04 & 05. A lot of whitetail in BHNF, very few mule deer. Seen some nice whitetail harvested by others. Easy draw. Go later in the season during the rut. Maybe the biggins will show. Seen some huge muleys south of Sundance on private property. Most muleys were seen right in town...LOL. Too many roads through there to get far back in. Good luck.

My group of 3 went this year. We shot 3 deer, a muley and 2 whitetails. We saw way more mule deer than whitetail but no big muleys. Saw tons of big bucks on private land and a ton of hunters on the public. It was a decent hunt but I doubt I'll ever go back, plenty of better places to hunt deer. If you go, make sure you get off the roads aways. A lot of road hunters out there and there aren't many roads into public land not blocked by landowners. PM me if you'd like specifics. I'd be happy to tell you were we saw the most deer.
