Elk, Rain, Water hole

Has anyone had any deer or elk come in on a water hole when it rains... if so how often?

Hunted last year in Montana during a week of solid rain. Sat over a wallow with a tree stand umbrella for the afternoons. Elk were using this wallow to apply their mud/piss cologne to them selves. The heavy rain would wash it off and they would be back to reapply. Find an active wallow bring a good book and sit down....when your all done sitting.....sit some more. I'm leaving next week to do it again....can't wait.

I have hunted in the rain but after scratching my head I can't think of a time I sat water in the rain. Good luck, sounds like it works.

awesome pic.. sittin at water holes/wallows has gotten a little easier with smart phones, passes the time a little easier!

i have recently set up a tree stand on a big water hole / wallow where the bulls love. I know for a fact after years of hunting the area that the elk go to teh area to rut in the wallow vs get water. I know rain affects elk but keep in mind when its time to rut its time to rut! the elk are in the rain all year and if there is cows in heat they wont notice its raining! Find the horn Goose!
