I had a couple days of free time this year so bought an over the counter tag, and headed to Colorado. Killed this bull on the second night. Crazy thing is I seen 2 bigger bulls, but no way I was passing on this guy. Who says there is no big bulls in Colorado? The bull ended up having 57" beam on his 7 point side and 55" on his right side. Has me thinking maybe of going again next year instead of waiting 12 years in Utah. I need to give my bud Cody a shout out for being my savior. Cody played a big part in my San Juan bull last year and this bull from Colorado. Thanks Cody!!!

Great bull. Congrats. I agree. Guys bag on Colorado OTC quality but Ive seen a lot of 300"+ bulls in OTC units. Sure there aren't many 350"+ monsters, but a guy has a legit shot at a solid 6 point almost anywhere.

Nice bull!

Yep, it was the night before. The animal was cleaned and opened to cool. Tucked in the river bottom the animal was fine. I had a serious issue come up or else he would of been taken out that night. Came back and and took pictures next morning and the meat off the straps taste great. Got the rest of the meat hanging for about 5 more days and then I will process. Thanks for your concern azhunter, as the meat was my first concern also. Nothing bugs me more than a wasted animal. In my line of business you would not believe the things I witness. Good luck archery hunters on your last week in Utah.

That is an awesome bull. Congrats! Is that public ground though? Looks like it was a tough hike to the truck in the second picture. I can only dream of having hookups like this.

After reading my post, I thought it could come off the wrong way. I do not mean any rudeness from my comment. Thanks for posting the pictures and I am always excited for anybody who takes a great bull.

Sweet bull Curtis!!!

Let me know your schedule so I can come down and look at him in person :)

Cheers,
Pete

Congrats on a nice bull, and there is nothing better than to be able to see a road with a big animal like that down!

Congratulations of taking a really nice bull. That is one less bull that will be in Colorado when I get there.

Before you die.....Take time to live

Thanks everyone, I am still so pumped. I have hunted my whole life and this just happened to effortlessly. Yes he died about 200 yards from the road. A 4 wheeler tow to the river bottom and a 20 yard pack to the truck. Like I said it was so unrealistic that it still doesn't seem real.

Great bull, congrats. If you can and don't mind I would love to see your SJ Bull.

Great bull curtis you are the man and thanks for all the help on my sanjuan hunt. Jimmy lynn.

Congrats on an awesome bull.
Colorado was good to many of us so far this year.
I never seem to get a good one close to a trail. Seems I am always in some hell hole somewhere.
Best,
Jerry
