LAST EDITED ON Dec-06-06 AT 02:06PM (MST)[p]Don't know a thing about this monster, other than on the email i got it says it come from the bitteroot area. Its a hog though, anybody else know anything about it..here is the info that come with the email

With deductions, this mule deer buck scores less than the new
state record. It was shot in area 270, in the east fork of Bitterroot area

I got that same picture sent to me a year ago saying it came from the Cooke City area. Who knows.

2005 buck, wont net worth a chit. Great buck no less, I'd have shot it, but it's not a B/C book buck. . .

Why wouldn't that buck net very well? Do you know what it ended up scoring?

Thanks,
Corey

I too have seen the buck, and word was from the bridgers. The pics i got seem more likely of Bridgers than bitterroot but who knows. Its a damn nice deer regardless and it will net just fine......course nets are for fish:) Its all about the gross bone!

I got three or four pictures of the same buck last week. THe email head line was 41" buck. Nice buck but I do not know if it is 41" wide?

Why do you say more likely the Bridgers? Throw a few of the other pics up and I could probably say yea or nay on the Bridgers if there were any peaks in the background

Tfinal, I'd have to disagree with you. Even with modest numbers this buck will net B&C after deductions.

Mike

Don't see why this buck wouldn't net score well. Good width, height, mass and semetry, so what's the problem?

Mark

Yeah, show a few more pics, I'll look out the window and give you a yay or nay on the Bridgers also. Great Buck either way.

Here are the other photos...

Tony, I'd still like to hear why this buck won't net very well...and what you think the gross and net score are.

Can't tell for sure without seeing some peaks. But the surroundings in the photo don't look like the west side of the Bridgers at all, and that's the special draw area.

Finally got to see a monster from 270. I was wondering what came out of there recently. Very nice to see. Great job!!

LAST EDITED ON Dec-06-06 AT 09:42PM (MST)[p]well i'll just let the guy who shot the buck tell you, if he wants too.

Now, keep in mind that this thread implied that the buck was challanging a state record. I meant it wont net chit in the context of a 210" typical. I know that buck's no where near a state record. It is a great buck for sure. Anyhow, it's a great buck but it's no where close to the state typical record, but so what.

At the end of the day it will net a very respectable montana entry score and I'd be a very happy man to have killed it!

So, we'll just have to leave it to the shooter to tell the story, if he wants too.

Definitely a 270 buck, see those trees in the background of the one photo, those are Pondies they dont grow in the Bridgers they grow all over in the Bitteroot though. I live in the Bridgers, besides I would have seen that buck. Its my mountain range hehehe.

I think I saw this buck in a magazine, the title was "staring down a monster" hm who knows?

I would have shot it last year,
I would have shot it this year,
I would also shoot in next year,
That is one beautiful buck!

Ed

Actually that is Rich in the one photo, so I took a look at those trees again and they are Douglas Firs not Ponderosas, I know where those boys have been hunting the last couple of years, but Im going to have to keep my mouth shut on that one. What a stud buck for Montana though.

Must be public land, it's near impossible to draw 270 a couple years in a row, and everyone is so tight lipped about the harvest location. But, I sure have seen that cabin in the background before. Hum...

Sheepeater,

Would it happen to be an area with a lot of those cabins around. If so, then I think I know where, but I won't say either. It's some steep #####.

There's a picture of the buck in the B&C website trophy watch archive section, dated Jan. 4, 2006.

How is it "guaranteed"? a 270 buck, just cause the size? 270 isn't the only place in MT that holds nice deer.

Sheepeater, you are right there are lots of Ppine in that pic. Look at the last photo, ppine needles all over in the snow by the deer. With the doug fir p-pine mix, I would say it was western MT. Looks like a lot of this country here in nw MT too.
I heard some rumors of 190+ buck coming from Lincoln county, but so far just rumors.

I was emailed this photo too and it claims to be 41" wide.

What does a window pane off a Ford F-150 measure????
Maybe someone can take some measurements and compare?
HH

I'd have to agree.
32-33" would seem more like it.
Awesome buck, I'd love to have taken it, but I just connot put 41" on it.
Here is an ancient photo of me holding a 42" (outside) muley for comparison.
