Question for Ya'll

Just wondering if any of you have ever offered to help a friend on a LE hunt, then be expected to take personal equipment that this person would never have access to, pay for your own gas, food, and everything else that goes along with horses?

LAST EDITED ON Sep-14-11 AT 10:39AM (MST)[p]done it and just dont go back with them again. im always willing to help but at least say thank you or buy me a burger off the dollar menu.

so i just help the ones that help me and we call it even.

the ones that help me i at least try to offer gas and if they say no i take them to dinner and tell them to order what ever they want off the menu.

I'd get a virus today and see what happens. I had a friend drive down solo to help me on sheep hunt I made sure I paid his gas and food. That would be least I could do.

+1 I like this. I'd do the same for anyone offering me help. Appreciate the comments.

I guess it depends on the kind of "friend".

If its a life long buddy, I think I'd be just as excited that he drew the tag, and would look forward to hauling my stuff over to help. And the year that I draw the tag I'd think he'll do the same for me.

If its more of an acquaintance "friend" there should be some talk about making things "even".

No, but I've asked a friend who did have horses to buy his own way onto my hunt last year :)

You can guess what he said.....

Cheers,
Pete

That sounds just like one of my old friends; he doesn't have a Wasatch tag this year does he?

+1 tageater

Done it both ways, had it done both ways.

Old friends have histories that kind of flatten the "you owe me" accounts differently than acquaintance and new friends. I'll always offer and I appreciate it when they offer some kind of compensation or equalization method, regardless of the kind of friend, new or old. The offer is generally more important to me than actually receiving some kind of renumeration. It's just good to know they recognize your effort and your contribution.

Bottomline, IMO, if your doing it because you love it and want to be involved, don't keep score. If your doing it for some other reason, let it be known up front, everybody goes home happy.

1+ on the Bottom Line. Pretty much do it every year if I have a chance. Love to see the Horses used. LE tags are too hard to get. I had an LE tag in 2001, and have one for this week. Friends that I've helped are jumping in to help me. What goes around comes around. Liven' the Dream. BacDoc

If you are expecting something in return don't do it. I do a favor because that's what it is, a favor. Its not an I.O.U.

Cant tell you how many friends I have moved because I own a truck, but I will keep doing it because they are my friends.
