This a being posted by the wife, for the husband who is downon the Bookcliffs. His guide/friend is not helping and he has yet to see an elk in four days. Anyone have any ideas as to where to start he is feeling really stupid right now, but did do two scouting trips and his homework. He is just in desperate need for encouragement! Thanks to anyone with ideas

I would be happy to help. Does he have a Bitter Creek or a Little Creek (roadless) tag?

"Been down there for 4 days and has not seen an elk." Are you sure he is at the Book cliffs? Did he even leave camp?

He is down by Green River up a 28 mile dirt road to some private property which consists of two parcels of 35 acres and the other is 800 acres. All I know is his hunt is LE Elk Bookcliffs. He calls in every afternoon, I can ask him. He has six horses and 5 guys up there and has seen a ton of deer. Last scout trip they saw a bunch of elk on the property with one being a good scoring elk. He just doesn't know any other areas up there.

I know some spots if he has a bittercreek tag. Basically, he just needs to get up on top and do some glassing. Almost all canyons up there have elk in them. The main road getting up on top is Hay Canyon from the I-70 (Turn off is almost at the Colorado Border Westwater I believe, 40 miles or so from Green River), just turn right or left once you get to the top and glass each canyon you come too. He will find elk...

Well, he needs to realize that he doesn't have to limit himself to the private land. 870 acres isn't a lot compared to the area in which he has to hunt. If they are not seeing elk on the property, he needs to get out of there, drive down a road - any road, a main road, whatever - roll the window down and listen. The elk are going crazy out there right now. If he hears them he will find them. Then he can glass and scout a little more selectively.

HOOK 'EM!

I've been hunting the Bookcliff's, Home today going back Wednesday, I've seen 18 Bull's a day and one good one that wind messed me up, There are Elk in every Canyon I've hunted. For starters leave your four wheeler in camp until its time to pack him out. There are a lot of Guy's road hunting, I doubt they have seen much, Be out early the whole mountain is alive with bugling. Write back if you want a 320 class bull in one morning.

He needs to get higher. The elk are going crazy right now

I'll tell you who it was . . . it was that D@MN Sasquatch!

Have him call Kenny ASAP. Kenny knows that area good.

"I have found if you go the extra mile it's Never crowded".

Thanks everyone so much for all your help. He called back and said he packed up camp and is heading to Hay Canyon. Hopefully he will have much better luck
Thanks from the wife!

Tell him to go to monument ridge, black horse and saddle horse. He'll see something to shoot at

I never got a call or voicemail? Hopefully he is able to get into something! Good luck and post the success pics!!
