LAST EDITED ON Dec-16-06 AT 09:18PM (MST) by browtine (moderator)[p]The hunting community lost one of it's own on December 13th 2006. My uncle Jim was an avid sportsman who loved to hunt and fish. Probably his biggest legacy will be his passing this passion on to his grandchildren.

Uncle Jim was buried by his family today. He was 68 years old. Years ago he killed a real nice mule deer that he just recently decided to mount. This buck was in the process of being mounted. Unfornuately, he passed away before it was completed. I will post a picture of his mule deer as soon as it is completed. He was extremely proud of it. He talked about having this done for many years and it saddens me that it wasn't completed before his passing. My uncle was a man of few words but once you got him talking about hunting he could talk for hours. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by my aunt Sharon, four daughters and their families, and numerous brothers, sisters, brother in law, nieces and nephews.

That is truely sad and I give you my condolences. My heart skipped a beat when I read your post because just yesterday I was at my taxidermist. He told me about the buck he had just finished for a family. The hunter is 94 and never had this 201 inch typical mounted. His children and grandchildren are doing it for him for Christmas. I hope its not the same guy.

Incedently, the mount looks beautiful.

Thanks Brandon I do appreciate it very much. That is a recent picture of my uncle. His passing was a complete surprise since he was in great shape for 68 years old.

Sorry for your loss, but thanks for choosing to share it with us. Definitely looking forward to more pics of him and some animals. Keep your head up and take it easy for a while, and have a great holiday season......

:( Somebody didn't like bouncing betty :(

It is always sad to loose a family member, but especially one that means a lot to so many. I like to think that 68 is young, I am the same age and hope to climb a few more hills and take another good buck or two before leaving the scene.
May his memoery live on and may the good Lord Bless your Uncle and the Family.

I'm sorry for your loss. Sounds like your Uncle Jim was a great guy. Prayers and Positive thoughts for your Aunt Sharon and their families and for you too. Thanks for sharing and please share pictures of the mount when it is finished.

Hunting and family memories are what we will look back on, Prayer sent your Family in these tough times.

Sorry that you lost a loved one. He took the path we all have to take someday. Think fondly of the memories. Better suddenly than slowly.

Well now he's in the Happy hunting grounds in the sky, with less compitition on them big ole bucks; God Bless...

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. I lost my dad 2/17/06, he was only 59, he was my best friend and hunting partner.

After he passed a friend gave me this poem.

When I come to the end of the day
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love we once shared-
Miss me, but let me go.

For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the Maker's plan,
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me, but let me go.

God Bless

Sorry to here yours loss, I wish the best to you and your family, I am sure that the hunting is better where he is at. Hopefully someone will keep the mount in the family to reflect back on your uncle and his hunting heritage. Hang in there and have a great holiday.

James

Thanks to you guys who help me post my uncles picture and to the rest for all of the kind words. Of course, my thoughts go out to his immediate family. He will be missed by us all that's for sure, but he will be remembered by those who meant the most to him. I'll post a picture of his prized muley buck in a few months. My aunt wants the buck to go to his granddaughter whom he taught to hunt and shoot and in fact it was my uncle who was with her when she killed her first deer. I find that very fitting. Again, many thanks to you all. Merry Christmas.
Mike
