any one know the story on this deer?...looks like a Wyoming buck?

Its a few years old, it was in Trophy Hunter. I remember it because the guy that killed the buck was trying to sell this little booklet entitled "10 secrets to my success" or something like that. It struck me as funny because he was wearing a button up shirt under the sweatshirt and a pair of nikes. I am not railing on the guy, I am sure his secrets were worth the 10 bucks, it just struck me as funny. Weird how you remember some things.

Drum--

You mean you didn't know his secret was driving around in his 40k deisel truck.

It was from NM I remember because of the eyegards seems like his buddy shot a good one as well.

It's funny that whenever a guy kills a monster buck he is suddenly a pro. I think I'm going to write a book. It will have one chapter, one page, one word: Luck. Is that a sunday sweater he's wearing. All kidding aside that is a heck of a buck.

"looks like a wyoming buck." Why is that? The velcro chaps?)

No it is not a wyoming buck, the later message is correct it is a NM buck and by the way the guy doesnt drive a 40K $ diesel truck and he didnt shoot it while driving around. If you bought his "little book" for 10 bucks you might be this successful of a hunter. He scouts year round and if any one of you think you could walk the amount of miles he walks while hunting and put forth the effort he does you too might have a chance at a buck of this magnitude. I see this deer on his wall quite often as he happens to be my brother. By the way this is the largest muley ever taken in NM with a muzleloader and he happens to have the number two buck as well in NM with a muzzleloader.

You are right, I should not have passed on the book. Damnit, I knew it was a mistake at the time when I decided not to order it.

Hell of a buck regardless...

If I had a pair of bitchin' hunting shoes like him, I'd be able to put in mega-miles.

my nephew hunts in tenis shoes...go figure...nice buck though where can i get the book otta be a good read?..

LAST EDITED ON Dec-18-06 AT 02:15PM (MST)[p]My dad hunts in a cowboy hat and cowboy boots. He doesn't own anything else and he is usually the first one to kill something every year. I don't know how his feet don't kill him, but he can walk all day in them high heeled boots. Funny thing, he says any other shoes hurt his feet.

One of the best trackers/guides we have in Mexico wears these solid white boots that have such a pointy tip you could kill a cockroach in the corner with them. Painful to watch him walk in those things. I took a pair of hunting boots down there for him and he wore them while I was in camp and switched back to the roach killers when I left. Whatever floats your boat.

My point earlier was not to slam the guy that killed this deer, I was just pointing out what I remembered about the story and how some things stick with you over time.

I followed a 60 year old mexican around sonora for a week that was wearing a pair of plastic penny loafers. My feet were killing me in a $400 pair of hand made russels. Life ain't fair.

Beneath that sweater, button up shirt, levis and tennis shoe's is a cold hard killer boys...well realy not so cold, he does have the sweater, but a hard killer none the less. LOL. I couldnt help it, but seriously-awesome buck, I would love to see the other one (#2)!?

I remember the article from Trophy Hunter and he had several other pictures of big bucks that he had taken. Seems like a heck of a hunter to me. As far as the clothes in the pic, I have gone home or to camp and changed clothes before tracking a deer before.?

Andy

Actually, I have exchanged a couple of emails with the guy that killed the deer in the picture and he is a hard core mule deer nut just like the rest of us. He's a super nice guy and I hope he sticks around MM.

Drum

Wow....we got a football team up here in the NW that could use a few cornerbacks that could backpeddle as well as a few of you. :) His clothes did not kill that deer. I would love to see his other bucks as well.....I'm sure he isn't about to put em' up here. He's not even the one that put this picture up...go figure.

White cacaroach corner killers, nice! I bet after "Joaquin" all day in them suckers would hurt anyones feet! :) Pun intended.

Super nice buck! I wan't one for Christmas.

IF YOUR GOING TO BE A BEAR BE A GRIZZLY BEAR!Gee for forty years I have been wearing the wrong clothes. I usually hunt in my underware. Then I don't have to take all my clothes off to---- when I see a big buck like that.

whats with the cloths issue, way back when no body wore cammo and still killed big deer, two golden rulls, never skyline yourself and hunt into the wind DAH...

Typical MM.com bull*%#$.

A Guy kills a heck of a buck and you can count on several uncalled for comments.

Funny how drum is a fan all of the sudden after totally dissing the guy in his first few posts.

Hey dude, your an admin, just go back and delete all the negative crap and you won't look like such a dickweed.

Canoe, i didnt read anything worthy of that post? I dont think Huntsonora was trying to put this guy or his deer down. Im sure anyone that looked at the pic would have thought "Wow, that is a big muley! I wonder if the guy shot it while hunting in those clothes?!"
