just got an e mail of a buck with the story he was shot in rosebud county mt. he is 30.5 inches wide and has 11x13 scorable points, they were waiting for the 60 day period but the RUMOR is he grossed 247....need help posting

This is the buck that was taken off of the mine property. The property is only open to primitive wepons. I am not sure but it may also only be open to mine employs.

exactly right it was a blackpowder and how about those good MT deer, great state, easy draw hunt in the rut! and the only high fences are those with the top wire above the snow!!!!

I dont think 247 inches is an unrealistic guestimate, one of my hunters killed a 267" (gross) in Sonora a few years back and it dosent apear to have a whole lot on this one. Now THIS is a buck. Keep in mind though, most buck shot in MT (especially by folks with limited time restraints and knowledge of the area) are 2 and three year old bucks pushing 20" and hoping to gross 130-140. This is a rarity for Central Mt, its not like it used to be and a dissapointment unless you like "the ratrace" and 20" bucks.

bittersweet i got a little excited you are exactly right about the hunting in montana i sure wish they would go to a draw system or at least limit the rut hunt...it sure would improve things wouldn't it. i like most here would rather take a buck above 175 and have a chance at a 190 + buck once every 4 years than have a chance at a 160 buck every year I would totally be happy to shoot an elk or a doe on those off years

Hold on to your hats on this one, rumor has it that it was confiscated by the MFWP, seems that permission wasnt granted from the mine. I work out at Golds Gym, and one of the Warden Captains is usually there, Ill ask him next time I see him. Hopefully it is just a good ole boy Montana rumor, cause that is one hell of a buck.

You are correct. I saw the pic a couple weeks ago and was going from memory. Bad memory obviously, I don't doubt he goes 247". My bad.

Here is a picture of my wife's 218 gross buck from last year.

I always wondered what my wife's buck would have looked like if he reached his 5 1/2 year old birthday and this 247 montana buck seems to have answered my question, man they look a lot a like!
