I just had my antlers measured by a certified scorer. What do you think it green scored? I'll post the results in a couple of days.

I guess that I'm not good enough to get it down to 1/8 inch but I am goin to say 178-181. Absolutly a shooter, Maybe better with that mass and those mains.

Here's a 15 second estimation as if I glassed him crossing an opening in the timber. I like these tests, helps hone the skills, and boy I know I need it;)

182 gross

179 4/8
Unit 21 CO?
You posted it before right?
Congrats, tell us the story again!

Jeff

I guess I am not seeing what everyone else is seeing. I would shoot this buck don't get me wrong but I see average forks and not that wide of a buck. Maybe the picture is deceiving but I only see 165-170 class net buck.Lets hear how wrong I am.
Nothing to take away from the hunter cause I would definitely let the air out of him.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-20-06 AT 10:03AM (MST)[p]I am very new at guessing mule deer, but based on the one I just shot(first mule deer East CO post) I think its the same type of rack as mine. But it seems to be a wider, more mass, and better beam length. Mine was 170" so I will give it 185".
As I look again from the side I may be fooled from the upward angle of the rack and it may not hav ethe length I thought....hell I don't know, I will admit it. Either way good buck.

I am going to guess...........180 2/8 gross and a net of 174. Keep in mind that is just a guess. I will further guess that it came from unit 21 in Colorado. Did I win? What do I get?

Great buck! Congratulations!

I take it you saw my post on bowsite.com. Well actually, that was what my friend and I scored him, but we were off a bit. You may want to guess higher. You are correct that it was taken in unit 21.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-21-06 AT 01:10AM (MST)[p]Wow, six guys have guessed after he gave the score. You'd think they would be a little closer! ;-)

ColoradoOak, Yeah, anybody could go to bowsite and look up the score, but that takes the fun out of it. I want to see how badly I've screwed up on my guess.

Wow! Some of you guys really know your stuff. I didn't get with 4 points when I guessed. There were some very close guesses - I think COHNTR6 was closest with 179 4/8. Here's the result: 184 4/8, 4 6/8 Deduction, Total 179 6/8.

The deep forks and mass really helped, but the narrow inside spread (21 6/8) hurt me in overall score. Thanks for participating. I learn a lot from you guys on this web site.

Now I have to start digging out from our blizzard here in CO. I've got 4 foot drifts in front of my house.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-21-06 AT 01:18PM (MST)[p]So did I win anything? New truck? Rifle? Big bag of saw dust? Left-over pie? What? LOL

Gross score is what counts....right?

Brian....184 1/2, that's not even close to 184 4/8. Maybe that's why you didn't win. :) :) I wish the Gross score only counted in our paychecks too.

Colorado, Unit 21 near Rangely. It took 9 Res. preference points to draw the hunt. Thanks to all for the nice comments.
