Starting to plan for next year just wanted to get some info on these areas I hunted GMU 34 this year, was a lot of fun. I would want to hunt deer with a rifle doesn't matter what season. I just wanted to ask before I put in hours of research on the area any info would be great.

Thanks

My experence in 4 is that in the higher country, there are few deer. Gangs of deer on the lower ground but its mostly private. I personally saw over 100 elk the first day of the first season last year and 0 deer. Don't know about later but we're hunting @ 10,000 feet where you would think the deer would be the second week of Oct. Good luck.

PS: Get a OTC leftover cow tag if you're interested.

armybrat - I guided in GMU 5 for 10 years. There are some HUGE deer in that unit but 90% of it is private. There is some public access to about 600 acres surrounded by private land. It is in big buck central but it's a long walk in . When I have hunted it, I will back pack in and stay a few days. If you are serious email me and I can get you some better directions to the trail head.

It's always an adventure!!!

I hunted deer there 3years ago and wasn't impressed by the numbers and quality. My friend finally wound up taking a 3 pointer. Other friends of mine hunt private land only and do fairly well.
