Good place to hear the elk near Salt Lake

Any recommendations on a place near SLC (30 minute drive) where you could go listen or maybe even see the elk during the rut close to a paved road? My wife just had a baby and we are pretty much limited to a quick trip on good roads close to home.

Its not really as close as you wanted but if you know where Smith and Edwards is you could here some pen raised bulls.
