looking for cache bull

last day of archery hunt I shot a s. cache bull. it was bedded. the shot was 30 yrds and looked to have hit the shoulder area. the arrow buried into the elk. I found no arrow. I elk looked hit pretty good and after sixty yrds only walked. I followed the trail for 400 yrds of decent blood. then got to where I would only find blood where he rubbed against something. blood was as high as two inches past my hip to two inches off the ground. after some rain I lost it all together.
today I went up and looked for birds. I found a carcass 300 yrds from where I lost the trail. it looked to be old enough to be mine. the elk was all cut up and head gone. I did see some other people tracks in there the same day I shot it. if anyone finds a bull or this was your elk I may have found please let me know. it is in the dugway area past hardware.

JUDAS not another one!

For "GOSH" Sakes,We got "TARDS" on this Site that can't handle a Damn,I Mean DANG thing, maybe MM should add a Church/Biblical Forum for the MM'ers that can't handle the Hunting Forums?
Pfffffffffff............!!!

I don't care if they're big or small!
If they throw lead I like em all!

A lost animal SUCKS no matter what, but wtf do you expect the guy to do? At least he's using all avenues to find his elk!

Lol HorseCreek!

A 1st Leathal/Ethical Shot would Help!:D

Just sayin,Yes it happens,Yes it happens to the Best of Hunters,Yes it happens way more than we hear about!

Anybody Guesstimate how many Trophy Animals are Lost in LE Elk Units every year?

I Expect Hunters to do all they can to recover their Wounded animal, rather than moving on & shooting/Wounding another Animal, nothing more, nothing less!

TINEBROTHERS story kinda makes you wonder if somebody else didn't stumble upon a dead animal & Tag/Steal it?

It's a LOWLIFE Stunt, but remember this is TARDville!

Doesn't sound like it is HIS elk anymore. Sounds like somebody else finished it and tagged it. Maybe they didn't finish it but found it dead or still dying and called the DWR and they took care of it. Sounds like he can keep on hunting. Or... maybe somebody did shoot another bull 300 yards from him and he never knew it. It could happen!

HOOK 'EM!

I JUST TRIED SOME STUFF CALLED BLUE STAR BLOOD TRACKING SPRAY THAT LIGHTS UP BLOOD IN THE DARK. IT IS USED FOR LAW INFORCEMENT, BUT NOW HAS A CHEAPER VERSION FOR HUNTERS. I TRIED IT ON MY PACK FRAME TEN DAYS AFTER PACKING AN ELK AND HAVING RINSED IT THOUROULY IT LIT UP LIKE A GLOW STICK. IT WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY TRUCK, AND IN MY PACK IF HUNTING IN THE RAIN AFTER SEEING HOW IT WORKS. DON'T KNOW IF IT WOULD HELP IN DRY WEATHER UNLESS YOU WERE COLORBLIND.

not sure that stuff would have helped see the blood in the rain but I am definitely going to have it close by next year! it is a sick feeling and I did everything right by most peoples standards I'm sure. I knew where another bull was bedded the whole time I was looking for this one... but I figured I would find the one I but. guess not.

My question is- were you hunting with an LE tag...?? If so, I'm sorry about your bull possibly being taken. You may want to contact the DWR and let them know what went down. Could be some shady stuff went down by some spike/cow elk hunters... They may want to look into it.

It could also be a legit kill of either your bull, or another LE bull...

If you were hunting with a spike only tag, I'm also sorry and you may just want to cut your losses and hope for the best next year. It looks like someone else will be enjoying the meat...

Of cuorse, this is all based on my assumption that spike/cow tags were given for the S.Cache LE unit...
