Your dream buck

Yes and no. When I was a kid I dreamed of different bucks than the ones I have based my standards on now. 200"+ (gross) Typical or non (maybe a little preference twords typical.) Just as importantly now, I like it to be a great hunt, hard earned, dues paid in full, on foot, amazing spot and stalk situation.
Is that to much to ask for God?

I have only been able to hunt for two years, and at my age I have higher standards than many people. But I have yet to shoot my dream buck. I have shot nice bucks, but noe dream bucks yet.

I have been lucky enough to kill some nice bucks...but you always need something to dream about.

I am not too picky, just needs to have a 210" Typical frame with matching forked cheaters on each side off the G2. And double 12" drop tines.

:( Somebody didn't like bouncing betty :(

IF A DREAM BUCK IS ONE THAT IVE SEEN IN A DREAM BEFORE THE HUNT. THEN YES I HAVE KILLED MY DREAM BUCK. IN 79 I WAS 16 FRIRST YR WITH MY OWN TAG. THE NIGHT BEFORE THE HUNT I HAD A DREAM ABOUT SHOOTING A VERY BIG BUCK. IT WAS SO VIVID A DREAM I STILL REMEMBER IT. FIRST LIGHT THAT MOURING I LEFT THE TRUCK ALL THE OTHER GUYS WITH US WENT UP THE MOUNTAIN. MY DAD WAS JUST GOING TO SIT IN THE TRUCK SINCE THAT NIGHT BEFORE IT DUMPED 3 FEET OF SNOW FROM AFTER WE WENT TO BED BY WHEN WE WOKE UP. I WAS SO PISSED AT MY DAD AS I WALKED AWAY FROM THE TRUCK I ALMOST BALLED. FOR YOU SEE I HAD NEVER BEEN TO THIS HUNTING AIREA BEFORE AND DIDNT EVEN KNOW WHERE THE HELL I WAS. I WENT IN A DIFFERNT DIRRECTION WALKED OVER TO A BENCH ABOUT 800 YRD FROM THE TRUCK SAW A 2 POINT LAYING DOWN AND A 3 POINT STANDING BY A DOE RIGHT UNDER ME ABOUT 50 YRD DOWN HILL IN THE TALL SAGE. RIGHT AS I WALKED AWAY FROM THE TRUCK MY DAD ROLLED THE WINDOW DOWN AND YELLED AT ME 2 AND 3 POINTS YOU DRAG IT TO CAMP. HE DIDNT WANT TO JUST KILL SOME DEER, HE WANTED ME TO HUNT FOR A GOOD ONE. AS I WATCHED THEASE 2 BUCKS I STUCK MY 30/30 IN THE SNOW BUTT FIRST IF COURSE. THEN I STRIPPED DOWN THE COVERALLS AND STARTED TO TAKE A LEAK AS I WAS RELEASING THE 2 POINT LIFTED UP ITS HEAD AND THEN TURNED INTO A DANDY 4X5. I GRABBED MY RIFLE TOOK AIM AT THE ONLY THING I HAD TO AIM AT. HIS FACE. BANG ONE RIGHT THREW HIS MUSLE 2 INCHES INFRONT OF HIS EYES. HE TRIED TO SPLIT BUT EVERY TIME HE STOOD UP I PUT ANOTHER ONE IN HIM. HE WAS NOT GOING ANYWHERE. WELL 2 MOORE ROUNDS IN THE NECK AND 2 IN THE GOODIES AND HE STAYED DOWN. WHEN I GOT BACK TO THE TRUCK MY DAD AND ALL HIS FREINDS FREAKED. DADS BEST FREIND JUST KEPT STARING AND SHAKING HIS HEAD. THEN HE LOOKED ME RIGHT IN THE FACE AND TOLD ME ILL NEVER GET ONE THIS BIG AGAIN. TO THIS DATE HE IS STILL CORRECT. BUT IVE MISSED MANY AS LARGE OR LARGER OVE THE LAST 25YRS BUT HIS PREDICTION IS HOLDING ON TIGHT.

Hey mjrelkfreak do you have a picture of this big buck? I would like to see it.

I killed my dream buck a couple years ago in colorado. He's 33" from cheater to cheater outside with a 30" mainframe. 210 non typical I posted a pic here awhile back. Its actually kinda sad knowing i'll never get a bigger one but Im going to keep trying too. Gary

I scored on my dream buck, a 30" typical that scored 187 with archery gear. While I've since killed another 30" 4pt with a rifle, it just not the same. A couple years ago I wanted to take a buck with a cheater. I've now taken a couple. Will I ever top my archery typical? I doubt it.

Not even close!! Definately what keeps me dreaming though.

You guys that have.....those are some dandies for sure.

Elkcrzy....don't be so sure you won't shoot something better, you never know. Look at Guy Eastman a couple years ago....shot a 236" NT and said the same thing and two weeks later killed one that went 242".

Well, there's dream bucks and then there's a buck that I stand a reasonable chance of killing sometime in the next 10 years with some patience and hard work. I live in MT, so that buck is not a monster, but I saw one like him in 2001. He's probably dead now, so i'll have to kill his offspring. He was about 27 in wide and just as tall with awesomely deep forks and dark mahogany-colored horns. Over 40 in of mass that he carried throughout his rack. Probably in the mid 180s, but the score doesn't matter because he is the prettiest buck I have ever seen. Just how everything was put together, from the perfect way the main beams curled around to the matching forks...

I never really had a dream buck until after I shot him.... :) Was sixteen and started tracking a big buck track on my own. Tracked it for almost 3 hours before finally getting the best of him. When I shot, I knew it was a buck but due to the thick cover, could only see flashes of antler. I came up on him after closing the 60 yards separating us and just about fell over...beautiful Non-typical, 32" spread, 9x8 that gross scored right around 216....to this day, he has become my dream buck! Of course, I go out every year, in hopes of finding one bigger, but the hunt of that deer, with me accomplishing it myself, and beating him in his environment, can never be matched. I did connect this year with a nice typical that gross scored 178, again, all on my own, first muzzleloader deer, tracked him, and finished the job. Very self-gratifying....but the yearn never dies, and I'll be out there next year, and the years after, looking to find the buck to replace my "dream buck"!

NO and I am reminded of that everytime BCBoy posts another BC hawg on here.

I shot an 18 pt. whitetail that grosses 210 and a 17 point mule deer that grosses 217. I hope to do better, but the odds are not good. Since those deer I've shot a 187 gross nontypical mule deer and a 201 gross typical mule deer, but I can't seem to find anything biggger.

IF YOUR GOING TO BE A BEAR BE A GRIZZLY BEAR!Have 16 or 17 over thirty, a couple in the book and have still not shot my dream buck!

IF YOUR GOING TO BE A BEAR BE A GRIZZLY BEAR!Have been fortunate enough to have 16 or 17 over 30 inches and a couple in the book but have yet to shoot my dream buck. Maybe someday before I go to that hunting grounds in the sky.

At this time my dream buck would be something scoring at least in the 180's. But I'm very happy just seeing good bucks out in the mountains that are just mediocre. My dream buck isn't really a buck itself but a dream hunt. Bivvy hunting at 10,000 ft with some snow, some rain, some blistering hot days, cold nights in my mummy bag is what its all about for me. fatrooster.
